About this deal

If you are reading the entire series, you should read Hopelessfirst then Losing Hope followed by the novella, Finding Cinderella. Colleen Hoover predominantly writes contemporary romance aimed at both adults and young adults. However, Verity is a much darker read and would be classified as a thriller. Forced to reach out to her last resort, Beyah has to spend the remainder of her summer on a peninsula in Texas with a father she barely knows. Beyah’s plan is to keep her head down and let the summer slip by seamlessly, but her new neighbor Samson throws a wrench in that plan.

That weekend, Karen leaves to the flea market, leaving Sky home alone. To celebrate, she bakes (Karen is a health nut, so this is rebellion). Holder turns up, and they end up having dinner together and clearing up the air about their various misunderstandings. They spend the next day too together, and get to know each other. Sky tells Holder about her father, and Holder tells her about his twin sister, Lesslie (Les), who committed suicide the previous year. When asked about his tattoo, he only says that it’s a reminder of the people he loved and let down. There’s also an interesting conversation about their first kiss (among other firsts), and things seem to be going in the right direction. One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in love-at-first-sight is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Unfortunately for Daniel, finding true love doesn’t guarantee a happily ever after . . . it only further threatens it. As a result, she has since come to the realization that love is little more than a fairytale. Either that or she was never meant to feel emotion on that spectrum. Daniel, a high school student like his friend Holder, has a steamy encounter with a fellow classmate in a maintenance closet at school. The two barely speak, never learn one another’s names, don’t even turn on the light in the closet, and agree that what they shared would be a one-time thing.

Table of Contents

Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow—another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for allof them. Reminders of Him (2022) Only by courageously facing the stark revelations can Sky and Holder hope to heal their emotional scars and find a way to live and love without boundaries. Losing Hope (2013)

One of Hoover’s most popular titles and the subject of the forthcoming movie starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, It Ends With Us follows Lily, a hardworking business owner who meets a too-good-to-be-true neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid. The two fall dangerously in love, but Lily is left thinking of her first love, Atlas Corrigan, who suddenly reappears in her life, threatening her relationship with Ryle. That night, another repressed memory resurfaces in a dream, and Sky realises that Karen was the one who took her. Sky confronts Karen and asks her why she was homeschooled all her life, why she’s not allowed to have a phone and everything else that’s been odd in her life. Some part of Karen realises that Sky must know the truth, but she doesn’t come out and tell her anything. Sky leaves the house with Holder, needing to just get away from it all. Sky is seventeen-years-old and she doesn’t believe in happy endings. She thinks that they can only exist in fairy tales. Her beliefs are challenged when she meets Dean Holder, the first boy to ever make her feel.

Age Rating: The age rating for the Hopeless series is generally for mature adults aged 17 and over. We think it would be best enjoyed by persons aged 25 to 40 as, while the characters are in high school, the storyline is very advanced. These are young people dealing with very complex situations and emotions. The traumatic sexual content may also be triggering to some people. With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist. The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris—Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family anchor. But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident. The heartbreaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara. Merit Voss collects trophies she hasn’t earned and secrets her family forces her to keep. While browsing the local antiques shop for her next trophy, she finds Sagan. His wit and unapologetic idealism disarm and spark renewed life into her—until she discovers that he’s completely unavailable. Merit retreats deeper into herself, watching her family from the sidelines, when she learns a secret that no trophy in the world can fix. However I haven’t found any information about the new thriller supposedly due for release this year. I will keep this post updated if I hear anything! Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak? Confess (2015)

The sequel to Hopeless takes readers into the past, giving them a glimpse at the events that befell Dean Holder before he met Sky. Dean made her feel things, actual emotions. He had the power to bring Sky to her knees and the troubled teenager wanted more. To save their relationship, all Owen needs to do is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin. Too Late (2016) The story opens with Sky and Six ushering boys into their rooms for a make-out session that soon turns sour, with the boys turned out, and the girls pigging out on ice cream. It is the day before Sky starts her senior year at the high school after years of being home schooled. But she’ll have to tough it out alone, since Six is leaving on a student exchange program to Italy.

Alternate Covers

The most appealing aspect of the Hopeless series is the effort it takes to explore and develop its protagonists. Sky doesn’t fit the mold of the average romance genre heroine. So when she meets Dean and he makes her heart skip a beat, readers are ready and willing to forgive the instant love trope that so many other young adult novels have worn out. At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her–and she’s forced to decide what her next move should be. If Daniel is so happy with Six, why is he still having thoughts of his fling in the closet? Moreover, why are his feelings for Six starting to feel an awful lot like the feelings he had for his pretend lover? Sky: a sheltered former foster child who is entering public school for her senior year after being homeschooled her whole life As opposed to the heavy content and themes from the first two books, this lighthearted read features new and unexpected love, some steamy scenes, and lots of witty banter. We also get a fair amount of Holder and Sky in this story who we already know and love from the prequels.

I stand up and look down at the bed, holding my breath in fear of the sounds that are escalating from deep within my throat. The first installment of the Maybe trilogy, Maybe Someday follows a 22-year-old college student who, after discovering her boyfriend is cheating on her, finds herself interested in her mysterious, guitar-playing neighbor Ridge. Sky has a dream in which her room’s door is closed and she’s scared of the the door knob opening. She wakes up sobbing, and Holder tells her it’s only a nightmare, and she’s safe. Sky and Holder are initially drawn together by lust and a mutual fascination with one another, but Holder’s mood swings and mixed signals soon begin to confuse Sky. As the skeletons begin to come out of each of their closets, both the past and present become much clearer for this young couple.
