About this deal

Australian buxom director Angela White takes it to the next level with her second showcase movie. Four lovely scenes during which the beauty gives a lesson and shows how she loves to use ... See full summary» Pakistani Muslim lesbian Fawzia Mirza co-wrote, produced, and stars in this Chicago-based dramedy as Zaynab, a 30-something lawyer whose romance with a Mexican American woman named Alma (Sari Sanchez) forces her to confront her relationship with her recently widowed mom. She takes up lucha-style wrestling as a way to cope. Seeing someone who looks like you doing something you never knew you could do can change your life. Netflix's coming-of-age comedy The Half of It is a modern-day, queer take on the classic Cyrano de Bergerac tale. It follows Ellie Chu (Leah Lewis), Aster Flores (Alexxis Lemire), and Paul Munsky (Daniel Diemer) in a truly endearing love (and friendship) triangle that you'll want to watch again and again.

This film from writer-director Maryam Kesharvarz begins as a romance between two Iranian teen girls, Atafeh (Nikohl Boosheri) and Shireen (Sarah Kazemy), and evolves into a broader discussion of sexuality and youth culture in modern-day Iran. It currently has a 86% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. This psychological horror film is not for the faint of heart, as the twisted relationship between prestigious musicians Charlotte (Allison Williams) and Lizzie (Logan Browning) has more twists and turns than you could possibly imagine. Stay with this one until the end, because you won't see the finale coming. When you’re a queer woman of color, it’s easy to get used to never seeing anybody like you onscreen. Whether your favorite genre is historical drama or horror, the chances that you’ll see an explicitly queer character are slim. And the chances that the character will be a woman of color? Forget about it. Thankfully, streaming platforms make it easier than ever to seek out the many filmmakers who do create stories about queer women of color—because yes, those filmmakers exist. (We even have our own streaming platform now!) Banned in India but released in the United States, this film tells a cross-continental story of religion, identity, and love. It follows a closeted lesbian in India (Preeti Gupta) who resists an arranged marriage, while a Muslim fundamentalist in New York City kidnaps a liberal Muslim scholar. In this indie lesbian dramedy, Andi (Constance Wu) and Lu (Angela Trimbur) are celebrating their upcoming marriage with a gay bachelorette weekend full of booze, high jinks, and (of course) lots of feels. The festivities take a turn when one reveals to the group that she's never experienced an orgasm. Director Wanuri Kahiu’s gorgeous, colorful Kenyan film about two queer girls (Samantha Mugatsia and Sheila Munyiva) falling for each other has received critical acclaim all over the world, despite being banned in its home country. It was the first Kenyan film to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. Fifteen years before lesbian Taiwanese American director Alice Wu directed The Half of It (also on this list), she made her directorial debut with Saving Face. The 2005 film follows surgeon Wilhelmina Pang (Michelle Krusiec) as she balances her sexuality with her sense of duty to her family.

This Thai rom-com is about Pie (Sushar Manaying), a well-to-do college student who’s taken off-guard by her masculine new roommate Kim (Suparnat Jittaleela). As the two grow closer, they inevitably develop feelings, and both conflict and cuteness ensue. The film was so popular there are already two sequels. This sweet, at times heart-wrenching coming-of-age film follows two Latinx girls in Los Angeles, Yolanda (Fenessa Pineda) and Mari (Venecia Troncoso) as their neighborly friendship turns unexpectedly romantic. The deeply personal semiautobiographical movie was written and directed by Aurora Guerrero. “The story of Mosquita y Mari was largely crafted around my own coming-of-age,” she told Filmmaker magazine. “While in film school, I was given an exercise to ‘write what I know’ in whatever form it came. So like a madwoman I started writing a series of short stories about these two girls growing up together and how everything they did was fueled by an unspoken attraction.”
