About this deal

Metal Tins – The largest Quality Street product on offer, these “gifting tins” will feature enough confectionery for any children’s party and be a fitting gift for friends and family. I weighed Nestle Quality Street chocolates from a 650g tub to get an average weight per chocolate for each type. Please note, this information is based on what I counted in a typical tub, and amounts may vary. Quality Street Chocolate Type

I counted the chocolates in a 650g tub of Nestle Quality Street to find out how many chocolates you get per tub and here are the results: While Quality Street’s products aren’t the most calorific around and are certainly tasty, how do they rate in environmental terms? There have been concerns raised around the environmental cost of palm oil used by major confectioners as well as the working conditions in cacao-growing areas, but are Quality Street involved in these scandals? With nearly three months to go until Christmas, Quality Street said it decided to introduce the new flavour to meet consumer demand. The new variety becomes the brand’s 12th flavour after one of the toffee flavours was discontinued last year. Taking a break from perusing the shelves, Frank Vergara, 53, was so keen to try it that he made an exception from his usual rule of avoiding treats on weekdays. The sales and marketing worker from Waterloo said: “I definitely taste the white chocolate. There are little grains in there, I’m not sure exactly what they are but it’s quite pleasant. Quite sweet of course … But definitely indulgent, nice.” The Purple One" (previously known as Hazel in Caramel) – Milk Chocolate filled with hazelnut and caramel (purple wrapper)Share with friends and family and create treasured moments this festive season, or give the perfect gift to a Strawberry Delight lover. Whatever the occasion, nothing says ‘Christmas’ more than the sparkle of Quality Street®. Perhaps predictably, the only complaint came from a dental hygienist. Sairan Fattah, 49, from Tottenham, said she liked the “crunchy milky nice flavour”, but that she found it “a little too sweet”. Celebrations have the tagline "Share the joy", and were one of the first mixed boxes of chocolates in the UK to bring together confectionery which had been already released in one box or tin instead of introducing new, specially-created treats made exclusively for the UK market, by a major producer. He also introduced new technology, the world's first twist-wrapping machine, to wrap each chocolate in a distinctive wrapper.

But how do Quality Street compare with other chocolate brands? Not too badly actually. Quality Street chocolates contain around 455 calories per 100g, which is more or less the same as Mars bars, but much less than Cadbury’s Dairy Milk (which weighs in at 530 calories). So if you are worried about your waistline and absolutely must dive into a tin of sweets, Quality Street may not be the worst option around – but it’s definitely not a health food. It’s a sweet treat. Are Quality Street Products Environmentally Friendly?Quality Street is part of the Nestlé Cocoa Plan, supporting farmers for better chocolate. Nestlé and the Rainforest Alliance work together to help improve the lives of cocoa farmers and the quality of their product. Find out more at ra.org.. A sharing bag of Quality Street® Strawberry Delights - with a deliciously smooth strawberry-flavoured centre coated in rich dark chocolate. Perfect for sharing at Christmas and other celebrations. Now in recyclable paper wrappers. No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Quality Street is part of the Nestle Cocoa Plan, working with the Rainforest Alliance to help improve the lives of cocoa farmers and the quality of their product. Quality Street. Use the calculator below to work out the weight and calories for your serving of Nestle Quality Street. Lindt – The Swiss chocolatier Lindt makes beautiful Neapolitans (solid chocolate chunks), eggs and chocolate figures that are probably a cut above Quality Street and Roses. Then again, you get less for your money, although what you do get is exceptional.

Individual larger versions of the more popular chocolates are now manufactured and sold separately, as an extension to the brand, such as a bar based on the Purple One. Gooseberry Cream (green wrapper light green fondant with a touch of Gooseberry Preserve covered in milk chocolate) Well, parent brand Nestle seem to be trying to deal with both problems but still have a way to go. For instance, they source around 23% of their cacao from fair trade producers and only 16% of its palm oil was certified as sustainably produced in 2014. Palm oil is a major driver of deforestation in countries like Indonesia, so this may be a concern for some customers. Muhamad Hamzapur, 18, said he is not usually a big chocolate fan but that he liked the new Quality Street. “To be honest, I don’t normally want to eat them [Quality Streets], but this one’s delicious,” said the student from Bermondsey. However, by 2020, an alternative origin was given in a text panel printed on the side of the tubs; it states they were named after the favourite flowers of Dorothy Cadbury, a director of the company and renowned botanist, which grew in the gardens of the original factory at Bournville. Unsurprisingly, given that the brand has been around for the best part of 85 years, there have been many flavours that had to be sacrificed to make way for the current crop. Onto the box that led to the development of Heroes - Celebrations launched two years prior to the Cadbury equivalent. The Purple One – Another nutty delight, the Purple One includes a hazelnut encased in gooey caramel inside a chocolate shell. Ferrero Rocher – Manufactured by the Italian confectioner Ferrero, Ferrero Rocher only have one recipe which involves a whole hazelnut that is surrounded by hazelnut chocolate, then encased within a thin wafer shell that is studded with hazelnut pieces and covered in chocolate (milk, white or dark). Extremely calorific but extremely satisfying, Rocher represents a classic balance between upmarket taste and affordability.

To illustrate the differences between the two eras of selection boxes, Roses, like Quality Street, had their flavours specifically made and wrapped in coloured foil compared to Celebrations and Heroes later using brands that already existed. Milk Tray – Manufactured by Cadbury’s, Milk Tray may be most famous for their humorous advertising in the 1980s which associated them light-heartedly with romantic assignations. These days, they are a reliable alternative to Quality Street, featuring a collection of chocolate coated biscuits. The table below shows the average weight per chocolate in metric and imperial weights and calories are based on the assumption that each gram contains 4.71kcal per gram. As for the brands that’ve been lost, there have been a surprising number given the selection has only been in existence for just over 20 years. Strawberry Delights are just one of the iconic sweet in the Quality Street® family. Our famous sweets were born in when 1936 John Macintosh, the owner of a successful confectionery business in Norwich, sold a deliciously chewy new toffee invented by his wife. When his son inherited the business, he soon created a range of sweets in beautiful wrappers that everyone could enjoy – and Quality Street® was born.
