About this deal

The imagery is Chinese and the story takes place in China, so it appears the book is correct but the LWB is wrong.

The biggest problem with this deck, however, is the poor card quality -- it's the same texture, thinness, and glossiness of standard Bicycle playing cards! The Tarot of the Divine does not shy away from the ‘hard cards’– the ones that address the hardships and sorrows of life, but it does present them in a format that is not as dread-filled as some tarot decks are wont to do.And, if you are looking for a deck that is child friendly, or usable by those who are a little hesitant about the tarot then this deck is highly recommended. Included with the Tarot deck is a small guide that explains the meaning of each card and indicates which legend or fairy tale is associated with this image. The deck uses stories as metaphors for behaviors and situations that might be in your life, but I felt like some of the stories didn't match the cards they were on since it's meant to be RWS-based.

While Set represents a tyrant of a victor, Isis is a defeated combatant who will eventually bring about Set’s defeat. In Beneath the Moon, Yoshi (who does not use pronouns) talks about the influence Yoshi's mixed heritage had on the stories Yoshi's parents told growing up, and how Yoshi could find the common threads that wove different societies together. This Tarot deck shows the differences and similarities of the peoples of the world and helps to better understand each other. The path to enlightenment is unique for each of us, but many of the lessons we learn are shared stories passed among cultures and generations. In this guided journal, artist Yoshi Yoshitani guides spiritually curious readers through the universal symbolism in each of the 78 cards in a tarot deck, offering space to reflect on your own understanding of the cards, as well as activities to strengthen your tarot-reading skills.

The art of Yoshi Yoshitani is faithfully reproduced on the cards based on my side-by-side comparison of the actual companion book, Beneath the Moon: Fairy Tales, Myths, and Divine Stories from Around the World, which is sold separately. The Six of Swords represents leaving behind tumultuous waters for a future that is calm and promising. The deck comes with a small, full colour guide booklet that is perfectly sufficient in summarising the cards, their stories, and their applied meanings.

The main thing that drew me to this one is the multi-cultural theme because, let's face it -- the vast majority of decks are Euro-centric. They're true to the original rider waite while putting a fairytale twist to it all and it's magical to say the least.
