Inevitably I was reading this against the movie, and I'm here to say that I think the movie and the book are both brilliant. So ha! I don't know who is the right audience because it is too grown-up for a child but also too childish for an adult. When Yvaine evades him and escapes, Tristran discovers he is not the only one in pursuit of the star: there are dark forces in this magical land, and he must find Yvaine before she falls into their clutches. As he does so, Tristran will uncover the secret to his own identity and a fate beyond his wildest dreams. I was skeptical because I'm never been a fairy tail-type-of-child and I thought Mr Gaiman and I couldn’t get along - you don't read Stephen King if you don't like horror. Instead, I wish someone pushed me to read him sooner.Damn you. Damn you straight to hell. You've written beautiful faerie stories in your plainspoken postmodern prose, and left my own projected frontiers woefully trodden. It has nothing to do with your brilliance. Had I been born before you I would most likely be the one writing clever novels about fallen stars and sly gods. I would've, I swear! Gaiman had potential ideas for more books following on from Stardust, one called "Hellflier" set about 5 years later, and another called "Wall" set about 150 years later. [6]

Some kind of explanation about the little man, the flying caption etc would have been nice as well. This was never expounded upon in the story. Victoria Forester: A resident of Wall described as "the most beautiful girl for a hundred miles around". She is the daughter of Bridget Comfrey and Tommy Forester. Although Tristran is infatuated with her, she does not return his feelings and does not take his promise to bring her the fallen star seriously at first. She ultimately marries a man called Monday and thereby unwittingly frees Tristran's mother, Lady Una, from slavery. That seems like such a contradiction, and few other people than Neil Gaiman could make it work (so thank god he's the one who wrote it).It was at one such gathering that young Dunstan, then but a lad of seventeen, first encountered the beautiful slave girl imprisoned by the villainous witch who had cursed her to a life of servitude. Though their time together was brief, the two shared an intimate encounter that would change the course of Dunstan's life forever. For that brief union under the stars produced a child, a son, whom the enslaved maiden secretly sent over the wall to live in the human world shortly after giving birth, entrusting the boy to be raised by his unknowing father. But the pure fantasy adventure is surely something cinema's could use a little bit more of these days. If movies can get actors like Robert De Niro to do some of the ridiculous things he does in this movie, then I think we have a winning formula. But in all seriousness, Charlie Cox, Claire Danes, Michele Pfeiffer, Henry Cavill, De Niro, and Sienna Miller make for a fantastic ensemble cast of witches, Kings, a star (?), and one special prince to make for a thrilling adventure. Okay so I'm four starring this right now but honestly it might be higher. I DON'T KNOW. I FORGET HOW TO LIKE BOOKS.
