To find out more on cherry gins, and other flavoured gins, why not also explore our Gin Club (UK delivery only), members receiving two new gins straight to their door each month, along with information around the chosen gins and complimenting mixers. J.J Whitley London Dry Gin is the product of eight generations of distilling history. It’s a classic London Dry recipe, which uses a blend of eight botanicals, including orange peel, lemon peel, juniper, angelica seeds, coriander seed, liquorice, cassia bark and orris root. This delicious new addition to the JJ Whitley family was inspired by flavours from the British countryside, so if you enjoy a summery G&T or are looking for the perfect accompaniment to a glass of Prosecco, than look no further than this tasty tipple! The serve recommends adding the 50ml of cherry gin to the glass, already filled with the ice, topping this up with the tonic before adding the cherry syrup and stirring this all in thoroughly. After this, garnish with the 2 cherries. J.J Whitley Bramble gin delivers a delicious burst of sweetened berries with subtle tart citrus flavours finishing with subtle mulled spice and pepper. The amount of calories in 25ml of gin mixed with tonic can come to around 97 calories, however, the calories can vary from gin-to-gin. Gin has been known as a low-cal tipple of choice, its calorie count often being notably lower than other popular alcoholic beverages.

J.J. Whitley Pink Cherry Gin | Master of Malt

Medley of fresh English red berries with subtle undertones of sundried orange peel. Sweet and sophisticated notes of summer strawberries and raspberries tune perfectly with classic notes of piney juniper, sweet citrus and earthy liquorice root. J.J Whitley spent much of his childhood in old Georgian and Victorian vicarages, latterly in Daresbury – the birthplace of Lewis Carroll. These vicarages would have had expansive kitchen gardens and natural hedgerows in which the young J.J would have played. As he grew older, the English countryside became the natural source of key ingredients for tantalising recipes like this Elderflower Gin, made with real elderflower extract. J.J Whitley Violet Gin is the product of eight generations of distilling history. Its recipe uses a blend of eight botanicals including juniper, angelica root, coriander and liquorice with a natural flavour burst of the quintessential English country garden flower, the violet.

This gin has a hit of Mediterranean summer orange on the nose, with flavours of candied orange marmalade, infused with subtle earthy undertones of liquorice root and the warming spice of cassia bark. Finished with herbaceous piney juniper notes, complemented by summer citrus. Wonderful smoothness with clear notes of juniper, perfectly complemented by hints of citrus, spice and parma violets. For example, a pint of cider can amount to 216 calories, while a 175ml glass of wine can come to 159.

There are a number of different cherry flavoured gins available, offering up wonderfully sweet tastes – for example, the JJ Whitley Pink Cherry Gin offers an aroma of fresh orange almonds, its tasting notes going on to describe this initial sweetness as “leading into marzipan, sour cherry and juniper on the palate.” J.J Whitley Blood Orange Gin is delightfully vibrant & inspired by family expeditions abroad to Sicily, where they would roam the countryside and orange groves under the beating Mediterranean sun.Another thing to factor in when considering gin as a low-calories beverage option is to be aware of the mixers you include in this. Low calories tonics, as their name suggests, can substantially reduce the number of calories included in your G&T when compared to regular tonics – 100ml Fever Tree Indian Tonic Water coming to 35.61kcal, while 100ml of Fever Tree Refreshingly Light Indian Tonic Water comes to 15kcal. His fascination for this juniper based spirit was spurred on by his Grandmother, the owner of Greenall’s at the time. She guided him in his journey to understand how different botanicals affect the taste of Gin and fostered his ambition to produce his own blend later in life. His Father was a Director of the Greenall’s distillery and brewery, so he had the opportunity to observe and learn the incredibly valuable traditional methods he used to produce Whitley Neill Gin.
