Most distribution tools are made from good quality stainless steel and high-grade aluminum with durable plastic handles. Many dual distribution tools have weighted steel bases for even extraction. Free samples There are several popular ways to distribute coffee. First of all, having a grinder that evenly distributes the coffee is a great start. However, not everyone has that option. Funnels make sure that none of the ground coffee spills out while you’re dosing your espresso or distributing it with a stirrer.

Well, at least we think so... After the coffee has been dosed into the portafilter, many people like to then gently tap that portafilter on the counter to collapse any air bubbles. Some also like to stir it with a paperclip or needle to further break up any clumps. (One technique, called WDT, involves inserting a makeshift funnel into the portafilter pre-dosing, and then using a needle to stir the grounds. It’s complicated, but there are some that swear by it.) When coffee is not leveled before tamping you run the risk of an uneven extraction as some parts of your portafilter will have more coffee than others. This results in an overly bitter or acidic taste.
