Parents love soft structured carriers because they go on fast, they're easy to adjust, and they're more comfortable than wraps or slings for longer wears with heavier babies. This carrier’s predominant feature is its SoftFlex Mesh makeup, which is a mesh-like polyester weave that allows for extra breathability for the baby and the caregiver. While I tested this in the winter and didn’t need extra venting, it did make for a distinctly non-sweaty experience, even indoors (which is not always the case when you have a baby pressed directly up against your body). And during a long day at the airport wearing a sweaty baby, I especially appreciated the breathability. The mesh also makes the carrier quite lightweight (just over 2 pounds). The polyester material was easy to wipe down after spit-ups and blowouts, and the Omni Breeze stood up well to a machine wash: It air-dried within about 12 hours, which was faster than the other carriers I tested. It’s also one of the most lightweight carriers I tested, at just under 2 pounds, and it comes in a variety of higher-end fabrics. If you want an ultra-lightweight, just-in-case carrier for when little legs get tired, you won’t get more compact and great value than the Izmi Toddler Carrier, perfect from around 9 months to 3 years. Double strollers and Disneyland go together like PB and J, but all of our testers who’ve bought double strollers still sometimes use a baby carrier for the extra versatility and mobility at the park or for hiking. Most baby carriers on the market will comfortably suit dads up to size XL, and mums up to a UK size 16-18. If you’re a plus-size parent looking for a neat, long-lasting carrier that you can use from birth, I recommend the Tula Explore.
