About this deal

Gears 5 is a third-person shooter video game developed by The Coalition and published by Xbox Game Studios for Xbox One, Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X. It is the fifth installment of the Gears of War series and the sequel to Gears of War 4. The ultimate edition was released on September 6, 2019, while the standard edition of the game was released worldwide on September 10, 2019. (Wikipedia). Based on internal modeling and testing done by AMD engineering labs 10/5/2020 on a Radeon RX 6800 XT vs a Radeon RX 5700 XT, using measurements taken of Cache, frequency at same power uplifts, and AMD Infinity Cache uplifts. Performance may vary. RX-566 We should all be familiar with the test system now but here we go, it would have been nice to do testing on an X570 board but alas due to the global ******* the X570 board that is inbound did not arrive in time for this review. Storage: 250GB Hynix SL301 SATA SSD, 250GB & 500GB Asgard NVME PCI-E 3.0 SSDs, 2TB Seagate Barracuda The PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800 XT features a new design with triple fans (100mm x 90mm x 100mm), a 320mm cooler with 7 heatpipes, and a large copper base improves heat transfer and dissipation from the GPU and the VRAMs to provide ultra-efficient cooling. The Red Devil RX 6800 XT is also equipped with a state-of-the-art PCB design utilizing a 14+2 phase VRM with DrMOS, high quality polymer capacitors, and two 8-pin PCI-E connectors will power the PowerColor RX 6800 XT Red Devil.

We take our noise measurements with the sound meter positioned 1 foot from the graphics card. I measured the noise floor to be 32 dBA, thus anything above this level can be attributed to the graphics cards. The power supply is passive for the entire power output range we tested all graphics cards in, while all CPU and system fans were disabled. A reading under load comes from running the 3DMark Time Spy stress test for 30 minutes. PowerColor has two variations of the Red Devil this time around with the only big difference being that the limited edition is following AMD's reference design and has included the same amount of display connection and in the same configuration: two 1.4b DisplayPorts, a single HDMI 2.1, and a USB-C 10Gbps connector. The standard Red Devil in this review has opted for three DisplayPorts which seems a bit out of place. I would rather see a second HDMI 2.1 or the USB-C instead. AMD still has to deal with my same complaints as I did with NVIDIA. Using DisplayPort 1.4 instead of 2.0 isn't something that can be fixed for this generation either. I'm sure the reason for AMD not using the latest revision most likely came down to the same reason NVIDIA did not include it either. That is because DP 2.0 wasn't finalized until 2019, well past the development stage of this GPU generation. None-the-less only having a single HDMI compatible of outputting 8K/60Hz is a deal-breaker to some. Even so, the limitation of DP 1.4 is 4K/144Hz without enabling Display Stream Compression (DSC), which degrades the image quality. Those who want to enjoy the high refresh rate with HDR will be forced to use the single HDMI 2.1 port. Right, we have said all we can about the Powercolor 6800XT Red Devil it is time to get down to scoring. Moving to Shadow of the Tomb Raider performance is very solid but with a GPU such as the 6800XT what numbers you look at for your average FPS can highly influence results such as in my testing for 1080p, primary numbers reported by the benchmark said 123FPS average while if you looked further down to the table itself 233FPS average was reported, I opted to go with the conservative number rather than one that was more likely to potentially misrepresent performance. I don’t know why there would be such a wild difference reported it is just something to bare in mind. Mute Fan Technology intelligently turns off the fan below 60℃, providing silent gaming during medium and low load while reducing power consumption.

PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800 DXR Testing: Watch Dogs Legion, Shadow of the Tomb Raider & The Medium

KitGuru says: The PowerColor RX 6800 XT is a great card and clearly improves on the reference design. Starting off our testing with 3DMark, the performance from the Red Devil is 4% faster than the reference RX 6800 XT across every test. That means it takes top spot in both Fire Strike and Fire Strike Ultra, while it comes second in Time Spy.With the flip of a switch, you can choose OC Mode which allows you to easily handle top-of-the-line games by pushing the limit of the power and performance, while Silent Mode provides an excellent quiet-gaming experience. Again we see different architectures with different strengths and weaknesses. The reference version and the Red Devil are quite close in performance. Sound levels have been measured with a digital sound meter here, if you are a gamer who uses headphones you could likely turn those fans almost right up and not hear anything intrusive as you can see here noise levels with the 6800XT Red Devil were not all that intrusive, 60% is probably going to be the practical limit for most people who don’t game with headphones.

The reference and Red Devil RX 6800 XTs offer good alternatives to the RTX 3080 for solid raster performance in gaming, and it also beats the performance of AMD’s last generation. The Powercolor 6800XT is rather attractive it isn’t as pretty as the Powercolor 5700XT in my opinion but it is still rather nice and should fit in with most builds. As for F1 2020, here the Red Devil hits 125FPS on average when gaming at 4K, which is an increase of 5FPS compared to the reference card. This works out as a 4% boost, putting the PowerColor GPU within touching distance of the RTX 3080 Founders Edition. RMA your card and ask for a model with two 8-pin connectors. If you can get it, I think that will solve every problem that you've ever had with the card. The first thing to note is that since the 2020 edition drivers AMD revamped the UI (again) and instead of the wonderful, compact design of the 2019 edition drivers we now have this over inflated and bloated monstrosity of an interface. It is unpleasant and at the extreme least needs a proper scaling option so people who want a more compact UI have that option. One thing that is a blessing though is the ability to directly report bugs and issues from the software, this option hasn’t been in the drivers that long but I can already tell that it does appear to be making a difference from remembering old bugs and glitches and looking for them during testing for this review a good number of them do seem to have been fixed. There is still a long way to go though to get everything ironed out for the architectures the Radeon drivers currently support but early signs are promising. What a waste of potential. Whatever happened to when you said you wouldn’t make the same artificially limiting mistakes you made with the 5700, AMD? Hmm? Watch Dogs: Legion is a 2020 action-adventure game published by Ubisoft and developed by its Toronto studio. It is the third instalment in the Watch Dogs series, and the sequel to 2016's Watch Dogs 2. Legion was released on October 29, 2020 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia. (Wikipedia). For the noise-normalised temperatures, both BIOS modes again provide a reduction in operating temperature when compared to the reference card – at least when looking at edge temperature. The OC BIOS hit 68C with noise output configured to 40dBa (requiring a fan speed of 1570rpm, for those interested) while the Silent BIOS managed to reduce this by another 3C. Red Dragon is always a favorite among gamers that love clean and sleek designs, and PowerColor today is announcing the new Red Dragon Radeon™ RX 6800 XT and Radeon™ RX 6800 graphics cards, with improved performance over the AMD reference design. Featuring a triple-fan design with 100*90*100mm fans sitting on an extra dense array of fins and 7 heatpipes, the new cards are designed to achieve the best thermal efficiency.

Gamers want highly responsive gameplay and the best visual fidelity. Radeon™ Anti-Lag4 – significantly decreases input-to-display response times and offers a competitive edge in gameplay. The AMD FidelityFX5 open-source toolkit for game developers provides a collection of lighting, shadow and reflection effects that make it easier for developers to add high-quality post-process effects that make games look beautiful, while offering the optimal balance of visual fidelity and performance.Real-time ray tracing is incredibly demanding. The latest graphics cards have dedicated hardware that’s optimized for ray-tracing. The 3DMark DirectX Raytracing feature test measures the performance of this dedicated hardware. Instead of using traditional rendering techniques, the whole scene is ray-traced and drawn in one pass. The result of the test depends entirely on ray-tracing performance. (UL). In terms of out of the box thermal performance, both BIOS provide reductions in edge temperature compared to the reference design, with the Silent BIOS peaking at 77C, compared to 73C for the OC BIOS due to its more aggressive fan curve. Against the reference card, those are reductions of 4C for the Silent BIOS and 8C for the OC BIOS. Both modes also reduce the junction temperature, which hit 98C for the reference card. Now we come to a test that certainly divides opinion but Basemark GPU does the same thing as the 3DMark API overhead tests do but also includes a test for OpenGL performance.
