About this deal

After getting it all pieced together, there’s so much I want to talk about at both ends of the scale. On one hand, the kit is just so massive and demands a dedicated space to display it unlike almost any other build out there. The whole thing stands 31.5 inches tall while measuring 23 inches wide and 13 inches deep on the base. This isn’t going to fit into just any LEGO or Disney collection, but the display space this will take up is certainly worth it. This eye-catching set comes with a premium booklet featuring details about the castle and model concept, a designer interview and instructions to guide you through the build The castle measures over 80 cm (31.5 in.) high, 59 cm (23 in.) wide and 33 cm (13 in.) deep, and makes a fun Disney gift idea for men, women and teenagers

She also comes with the new Rapunzel hairpiece, which was introduced this year and looks great, with a whole lot more volume in her braids, and has the benefit of being made of hard plastic instead of the usual rubbery material. The set marks Flynn Rider and Rapunzel’s first outing as LEGO minifigures, and because of Tangled’s popularity and recency, makes this the most sought-after minifigure duo from this set.Personally, I like this colour scheme a bit better as I love the nougat, blue and sand blue combination and generous gold accents. The minifigure selection is universally praised, apart from one of the eight included characters. Princess Tiana is the same minifigure from 71038 Disney 100, only otherwise missing the printed poster and frog included in the Collectible Minifigures series. By far the most exciting duo in the set is Snow White and Prince Florian from 1937’s Snow White – the world’s first feature-length animated film that firmly set the course for the Walt Disney company to be the entertainment juggernaut it’s known as today.

The set’s 4,837 pieces don’t feature any wholly new element molds beyond a few of the princesses’ hairpieces, but there are lots of recolors and a few new prints. The most obvious new additions are a huge swath of elements in light nougat. Some of these have appeared before, but many of them are new to this set, and you’ll get a heaping helping of them: 471 light nougat pieces in total, excluding minifigure elements. Three individual manuals are included in the set, and yes, that means you can build the set together with up to 2 other people simultaneously, for a Build Together experience. I also love the 1x6x5 light nougat panel with the decorative print that adorns the balcony above the gate. It’s a subtly different print from the one in the previous castle. As in that older set, you’ll get just a single one.We currently know what the smallest set of the lineup will consist of, with Disney’s Frozen making a pretty appropriate appearance in the Disney 100th anniversary wave. Though the rest of the creations are still up in the air as of now. LEGO Disney 100th anniversary Disney Princess sets: Next we have Prince Naveen and Tiana from the modern Disney era film Princess and the Frog. Prince Naveen is the minifigure of note here, as Tiana is identical to the one in the Disney 100 Minifigures series. Coolness [4]– Great minifigures and awe-inspiring display presence make this a standout set to proudly display The Disney Castle came before 43222 Disney Castle and it’s only natural to compare the two and while some outlets believe the 2023 model to be an improvement over the 2016 build, others were less convinced. Innovation [2]– Not the most innovative set as it’s essentially the same design, but there are some things that keep it fresh

And last but not least, there’s a nice nod to the Disney World Castle, where there’s a tiara on display in the upper levels. The only thing left to construct at this point is the fireworks, which are identical. They attach quite sturdily via clear rods, and they bring a huge amount of “Disney magic” to the look (after all, even beyond the iconic Disney film intro, Disney is rumored to be the single largest consumer of fireworks in the United States thanks to their nightly shows). Where the newer one is a big upgrade over the original is in the minifigure department. Eight minifigures, 4 iconic Princesses and their male counterparts are a much more exciting inclusion, making this feel like a proper celebration of Disney through the ages.

The Disney Princess castle also features a spinning dance floor in the grand ballroom and an 'enchanted' fireplace that rotates to reveal the iconic spinning wheel from the Sleeping Beauty movie

Set number 43222 isn’t the first time we’ve seen Disney Castle get the LEGO treatment over the years, but it is the most impressive. The new rendition celebrating the 100th anniversary of Disney fittingly pulls out all of the stops to deliver what I can only describe as one of the coolest LEGO kits of all time. Disney Castle is, much like its predecessor, rife with references and Easter eggs to the wider Disney portfolio. Thankfully, the instructions include a guide to most of these to save you from searching and overall confusion.Of course, for most Disney fans, a big consideration for this set is 71040 Disney Castle, released in 2016 and only just recently retired. This premium, detailed LEGO set includes 8 minifigures of well-known characters from beloved Disney films – Disney's Cinderella, Prince Charming, Snow White, Prince Florian, Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. The included minifigures can encourage younger kids' role-play fun, but the set isn't just a toy. This uniquely collectible castle also looks incredibly impressive on display. The new LEGO | Disney Castle is a celebration of the playful joy and creativity that the LEGO Group and Disney have inspired in families around the world over the past 24 years. Since the first LEGO Winnie the Pooh set was unveiled in 1999 to the hidden time capsule in the new LEGO | Disney Castle, the two brands have helped fans share the wonder of Disney storytelling by inspiring children, and adults, to reimagine fan-favourite moments through LEGO play. Share your love of Disney Princess characters and their partners with this LEGO ǀ Disney: Disney Castle (43222) set. Based on several well-known Disney Princess films, this detailed set showcases different rooms, classic Disney references, nostalgic details, plus a special time capsule commemorating 100 years of Disney films, all in a unique castle designed for display. It also features a spinning dance floor in the grand ballroom and an ‘enchanted' fireplace that rotates to reveal the iconic spinning wheel from the Sleeping Beauty film.
