About this deal

In this list, you’ll find common baking pan measurements and the volume of batter they hold. *** The amount listed is the total amount of batter each pan holds, but you usually only fill cake pans halfway (unless otherwise noted in the recipe you are using). Most measurements were taken at my home kitchen. Cross referenced with the always trusted Joy of Baking, as well. Measurement Conversions Use Fine Crumbs:Finer crumbs will create a better binding texture, preventing your crust from crumbling. You can achieve this by using a food processor, or placing them in a plastic bag and using a rolling pin to crush them finely. Variations For example, if a 9×13 inch pan is 117 square inches and a 9-inch round pan is 63.5 square inches, you can be confident that the volume from one 9×13 inch pan can fit into TWO 9-inch round pans (approximately 120 square inches total). If it’s a high-riser, your wise choice will definitely be 9” round pans. But if it looks a bit skimpy in the 9” x 13” pan, go ahead and try it in your 8” round pans; so long as they’re 2” deep (yes, measure them to be sure), you should be fine. Use the following section to determine which baking pans can be substituted for others based on their full volume. Round Pans

Cakes that measure 3 to 6 inches high, baked in the same size pan, would yield the same number of servings because they follow the same pattern of cutting. For example, a 6 in. round cake that measured 6 inches high would yield the same amount as a 6 in. round cake that measured 3 inches high, since they’re both cut the same way. The Details: Borosilicate glass; 3-quart capacity; 450 degrees F temperature capacity if moving directly from freezer to a preheated oven; dishwasher safe; microwave safe; freezer safe What’s the baking area (capacity) of an 8” square pan? Multiply one side by the other — 8” x 8” — to get 64”. Easy, right? Ditto any other square or rectangular pan. 10” x 10” = 100”, 11” x 7” = 77”, etc. If you want to calculate a pan’s volume yourself, it’s so easy! Simply fill your pan with 1 cup of water at a time and count until it’s full. That’s what I do!It’s better to use a larger dish than called for versus a smaller dish. No one wants an overflow situation—particularly if it means any spillover burning on the bottom of the oven. Don’t have a larger dish handy? Set your pan on a rimmed baking sheet as a precaution to catch any overflow. inch) Bundt cake pan; 2 (9-inch) round cake pans; 3 (8-inch) round cake pans; 1 (10 x 15-inch) jellyroll pan What if your Bundt pan is larger: say, 12-cup capacity? It’s fine to use; just understand the cake won’t get the entire top-to-bottom Bundt design, since it won’t rise all the way to the top of the pan.

Serendipitously, a typical double-layer or 9” x 13” cake makes about 6 cups of batter; so most butter or oil cakes can be baked in a Bundt pan. For further details, see our blog post: Bundt pan size: which Bundt pan is best for a 9” x 13” cake recipe? The get this percentage, work with the cups or square inches. Subtract the number you have (8 cups) from the number you want (10 cups). Divide that (2 cups) by what you have (8 cups), then multiply by 100. (The universal way to find a percentage.) This equals 25%. How to Avoid the Math For circle pans, determine the area by multiplying the radius squared by π. (π = 3.14, the radius is half of the diameter, and squaring means multiplying a number by itself.) For example, the area of a 9-inch round pan is 63. The radius is 4.5. 4.5×4.5 = 20.25. Multiply that by 3.14 = 63.5.And if all of those qualities weren't enough to convince you that this ceramic casserole dish is one worth adding to your kitchen, consider this: Emile Henry products have a 10-year warranty guarantee that the company will honor if your product shows signs of manufacturing defects in its first decade of use. Remember that number of servings are intended as a guide only. Actual results may vary. Bake Time and Temperature for Cake Sizes I made the batter for our Classic Birthday Cake, divided it in half, and baked it in two different sized pans. The layer on the left was baked in an 8" round pan; on the right, a 9" round. See the difference in height? inch springform pan holds 12 cups of batter, the same as a 10×2 inch square pan, 12×17 inch jelly roll pan, and a 9×3 inch tube pan. The Details: Stoneware with glass porcelain enamel finish; 4.8-quart capacity; Oven and broiler safe to 570 degrees F (425 degrees F with lid); dishwasher safe; microwave safe; freezer safe

inch springform pan holds 10 cups of batter, the same as a 10×2 inch round pan, 9×2 inch square pan, 11×7 inch pan, a 10×15 inch jelly roll pan.How about a 10” x 15” jelly roll pan (150”)? If you’re baking bars, substitute one 9” square pan (81”), plus one 8” square or 9” round pan (64”) for a total area of 145”. centimeters = inches / 0.393701 Using our inches to centimeters converter you can get answers to questions like: inch square pan holds 10 cups of batter, the same as a 10×2 inch round pan, 11×7 inch pan, 9×2.5 inch springform pan, 10×3 inch Bundt pan, and a 10×15 inch jelly roll pan. But it's this pan's vibrant, multi-coat porcelain enameling that is truly the show-stopper. Available in white, sapphire, and cherry, this casserole dish becomes the focal point of the table when used as a serving dish (and less to clean up, too!). Plus, each comes with a fitted lid (which is also oven safe up to 425 degrees F), which helps keep your dish warm on the table.
