Our range is manufactured either by Forest Garden or Palmako and is summarised below: Forest Garden You do not have to be an expert at DIY to build a Dunster House garden building, as we do provide you with comprehensive pictorial instructions. Also, if you prefer video tutorials, we do have a selection of videos on YouTube which will support you in building your product. Paint: Next, protect the hinges with masking tape and apply a coat of paint to everything else. Use a 2" brush to get into all the nooks and crannies, painting in the same direction as the grain for the best finish. Let it dry, then give it a second coating which will take an hour to dry. Whether you opt to build your product yourself, don’t be afraid to tighten the odd bolt here and there. All our garden buildings have been designed on the basis that any competent DIY customer will have no problem installing a product themselves in a short amount of time. Build the box frame: To create the box, arrange the four lengths of timber in a rectangle shape (the top and bottom pieces should sit in between the vertical sides, not on top) and screw them together at 90-degrees with 45mm exterior wood screws - use two or three at each corner. Top tip: Create some narrow pilot holes in the wood with your drill, so the screws can find some grip on their way in, and to stop the wood splitting. We recommend wearing protective goggles and heavy duty gloves when using the mitre saw or drill. The cladded panels will be heavy once they’re built, so we recommend having somebody to help with lifting, and assembly of the shed.
The best time to apply treatments or paint is following a dry spell and when the weather forecast looks clear for a few days. Dunster House will ensure that information about suppliers and material is gathered as part of the RPP. We will ensure regular engagement with our suppliers to ensure compliance with UKTR requirements, working with them to ensure continuous improvements. We will also specify that, wherever possible, that material sourced is covered by FSC and PEFC, to ensure responsible forest management. If you intend on putting an outbuilding in front of the main elevation of your property (as it was originally built or as it was on 1st July 1948) will require Planning Permission.
