About this deal

It's still available from some retailers but the Grand Prix 5000 TL has been nominally replaced by the Grand Prix 5000 S TR. We'll keep these details until retailers run out.

While the GP TL was better than many previous tubeless tyres for ease of fitting, there were still rims it didn't quite fit easily. We've found the GP S TR is better still, but you might still run into not-quite-compatible combinations. However, a friend of mine has had no end of issues with punctures and poor quality so maybe it's a hit & miss thing? Which it shouldn't be, obviously. Between finger and thumb, you can feel that the GP 4 Season is stiffer than a lighter summer tyre because of this extra protection, but for the casing Conti uses the same thread count at 330tpi (actually three layers of 110tpi) as it does in the GP 5000s. Compared to rival all-season tyres such as the Michelin Power All Season with its three layers of 60pti, it is much more supple. Performance Now you might think a tyre which rolls well has reduced grip but even during this spell of bad weather where the roads are wet and muddy the tyre has plenty of grip even at higher speeds. While the tread puncture resistance score is slightly below average, the sidewall puncture resistance score of 5 points is slightly better than most other comparable tires. The Schwalbe One V-Guard ( review) is a tire which comes very close to the Grand Prix 4000S II in the rolling resistance test. The Schwalbe One has a better tread puncture score (12), but a lower sidewall score (4).Tell us what the product is for and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it? Puncture Force Blunt Needle: The Blunt needle has a flat tip and won't split the casing wires. To puncture the tire, the blunt needle has to cut the casing wires.

But the Continental was only about 1.5 watts slower than most of the other 25mm tires on a perfectly smooth drum, at a 24.5w cost at 40kph compared to most of the other fast tires that were about 23w.

it gives an excellent opportunity to explore the differences between wider and smaller road bike tires. Weight is within +/- 10 grams of manufacturer specifications for all tires. With the 23C being spot on, 25C being 10 grams lighter and the 28C Even though the 28C GP4000S has a maximum inflation pressure of 115 psi, measurements were taken at pressures of 120, 100, 80 and 60 psi. The all new Vectran breaker belt, developed and patented by Continental, surpasses even the famous puncture resistance of the former leader in this category, the GP3000. The extremely strong Vectran fabrics are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid, is five times as strong as steel and features less weight than a nylon double breaker. It also maintains strength in the wet. Because the GP4000S II is one of the most popular road bike tires and is available in different sizes (20C is available as well),

What sets the GP's apart from other race tyres, which also offer impeccable grip, is the incorporation of the Vectran Breaker.measurements with different inner tubes, measurements at 15% tire drop, and measurements at the same comfort level. The challenge is that when you make improvements in one area, there’s a performance penalty in at least one other area. A compound which offers maximum levels of grip, for example, will wear out faster and roll slower. Conversely, a compound optimized for higher speeds or greater durability has a reduced ability to grip. I'll be comparing a 23C, 25C, and 28C Grand Prix 4000S II to see how weight, size, and rolling resistance compares across different sized road bike
