About this deal

To create a great look, its important that where two sheets of wallpaper join the pattern on the roll matches. The pattern match can come in different forms. The main types are free match, straight match and offset match. What is free match? Because there are so many different wallcovering patterns with varying lengths of patterns and intended designs, it is necessary to hang them differently based on the type of pattern on the wallpaper. What you may not have realized is that each of these patterns falls into one of two primary matching types. The term match refers to how you align the wallpaper with each new strip. All our wallpapers are displayed with related products which will coordinate with your choice of wallpaper. Does my wallpaper come in any other colours? If you're trying to match new wallpaper to an existing pattern in a photo, the first step is to identify the wallpaper. This can be done by looking for key features of the pattern, such as the color, design, and scale. It's also helpful to take a close-up photo of the wallpaper and compare it to different samples. Using a wallpaper identifier app: Yes, other than on glossed walls you should have no problems on applying the wallpaper to painted walls. By far the easiest pattern match, this type of wallpaper needs no aligning. Simply hang the wallpaper in any way you wish, and the pattern will line up which means there is less wasted wallpaper as a result. It means you have to plan your strips out carefully. You will need to determine how you want each strip to lie before you get started. Once you finish the first two, you will need to stop and evaluate the completed section to make sure it was done correctly. You will then be stopping to verify the alignment after every strip to make sure that every other strip is identical and that the ones in between align at the right points. For me personally, if I like a design its removal method doesn't stop me from selecting it however it is good to understand the symbols associated with removing the wallpaper for when you're going to come to replace it later down the line! Due to it’s extra-washable properties, this type of wallpaper can be hung in areas which are likely to incur more moisture such as kitchens and bathrooms , however it can not withstand large amounts of water so don’t hang where it will be directly exposure to splashing (next to a bath or sink for example) Scrubbable Free match – A free match design requires no aligning and so is the easiest of the pattern matches to hang. It does not matter how you place adjacent strips, the pattern will line up. Free match results in the least amount of wasted paper compared to the other pattern matches available.

Half-drop match: Half-drop patterns repeat at the ceiling line on every other strip and the design tends to run diagonally. It requires three strips of wallpaper to repeat the vertical design. A half-drop match is a straight match that has been split in half. You'll need to lay out the room and determine which strips will go where ahead of time. This type of vertical stripe match is sometimes also referred to as offset match. Here the design is such that each stripe is shifted down by half the design pattern size with respect to its previous stripe. Designers generally adopt such design matches where there is a need to represent a wider design section on a relatively narrow roll width. A half-drop design pattern wallpaper generally requires more amount of wallpaper to cover the same section of the wall as compared to other types. Half-drops are not the most common but a few can be found in marble pattern wallpapers. The result will tell you how many drops (strips) of wallpaper you need. You may have to round the number up. Add this figure to the metres needed without the pattern repeat and you get the final amount of metres for covering your wall. The pattern repeats across the roll half way down the vertical repeat. This normally means allowing for extra length and cutting very carefully as each cut will start at the half repeat. The best way to be certain of buying enough wallpaper, is to work it out as if it were an ordinary repeat and add half a repeat to each drop, except for the first one. Random pattern match: When the wallpaper pattern is random, you don't need to worry about matching any pattern at all. For obvious reasons, random patterns are great for beginners. No matter how you position the paper the pattern still looks good. A great example of a random pattern match is a texture, such as grasscloth, or a stripe.
