Adele S - I was originally thinking of sewing the Velcro on, but then I thought it might cause pinhole light leakage through the blackout material. What’s more, the adhesive is designed to leave no visible trace after the blind is removed, making it an ideal option for rentals, renovations, student accommodation, or while waiting for your permanent blinds to be made. Designed to completely block out light, they’re perfect for shift workers who need to sleep during the day, or adults, children and babies who wake up earlier than expected due to sunlight. Cutting your Blind: If you need to cut your blind to size, simply measure your window frame side to side and top to bottom - then add 40mm to the top measurement and the same to the side measurements, this will give you an excess of 20mm all the way around your blind which will fold over on the edge of your window onto the wall, which will stop light creeping in around the edges (instructions are provided).
They work a treat for my daughters bedroom which has a normal blackout blind but still doesn’t block all the light. I was recommended them by my partner as a temporary solution whilst I wait for my new shutters and curtains to be made. Added bonus is the black ones are blackout and this stops street lights etc shining through at night.If I were to use this fabric to line the existing curtains, would you cut to size of the window or line the whole curtain? Am thinking about it, but not sure about having a whopping great run of velcro all around the edge of the window! I will continue using the blind and update if there is any further improvement with his early wake ups. If you are really desperate, can't use a sewing machine, and want a (very) temporary but quick and easy solution. Each blind has an adjustable cord with a built-in child-safety device making it the ideal choice for young families. Once it was cut to size, I stuck it to the window and Sam’s bedroom was immediately pitch black, despite it being 4pm in the height of Summer! The whole backing of the blind is Velcro friendly meaning there is no need to line up Velcro strips.
