About this deal

You can also binge-read The Sandman on the DC Universe Infinite service. Morpheus Helm Masterpiece Edition This Christmas I bought myself the bound 'mega-volume' a very high class piece of bookage that contains the 1st 37 issues of the comic which is half of the 12(?) graphic novels. The Sandman: Endless Nights: Focuses on each of the Endless, a family of brothers and sisters who are physical manifestations of the metaphysical concepts - Dream, Death, Desire, Destruction, Delirium, Despair and Destiny. When Sandman is on point, which it usually is, it is some amazing storytelling, and some truly memorable and magnificent comics. When its not, it really got on my tits far more than I would have liked. While it is set before the series, I wouldn’t suggest reading it first if you have never read Sandman before! However, it makes for a good prologue on re-read, after you already know the character.

This six-part miniseries is a surreal prequel to the original series from 2013-2015. It details what Morpheus was doing just before the events of The Sandman #1. Where can you buy The Sandman comics? In fact, Lyta Hall can be seen to be pregnant with Daniel in Infinity, Inc. #42 in 1987 – prior to the debut of Gaiman’s book! Starting in 2020, Audible has done two seasons adapting the classic comic as an audioplay with an all-star cast. Also collects a three-part Dead Boy Detectives story from anthology titles Ghosts (2012) #1, Time Warp (2013) #1, and The Witching Hour (2013) #1. After Sandman, Despair appears in The Little Endless Storybook (2001) OGN SC, Death: At Death’s Door (2003) OGN, The Vault of Michael Allred (2006) #2 & 4, Delirium’s Party: and A Little Endless Storybook (2011) OGN Delirium of the Endless Issue #8 is the first appearance of Wonder Woman, and has been widely-collected. See Wonder Woman for more information. The majority of The Sandman spin-off comics were published after the original series in 1996 and are made to be additive. They explore characters and concepts introduced in the comic with new stories and are not essential to understanding the main series. If anything, it’s the other way around. You’ll get a whole lot more out of spin-offs if you’ve read The Sandman first.

Looking for a new comic to read after binge-reading The Sandman? How To Love Comics has you covered with some reading recommendations. The list is a good mix of Sandman spin-offs, other Neil Gaiman work, comic adaptions of his prose, and a few graphic novels that the author loves. Have your say! Delirium has never made an appearance outside of a Sandman comic or without Death save for in Lucifer (2000) #52. Desire has never made an appearance outside of a Sandman comic or without Death save for a cameo in Warren Ellis’s Transmetropolitan and in Hellblazer (2015) #8. In the wake of Crisis on Infinite Earths, DC could have easily reinvented either Dodds or Sanford for their new clean slate of continuity. Instead, they handed the character to a barely-known British journalist: Neil Gaiman. If you buy Omnibuses Vol. 1-2, you will have the equivalent of Absolutes Vol. 1-4 minus The Endless Gallery (1995) #1 and potentially some script and bonus material. These are in Omnibus Vol. 3, along with a mixture of the material in Absolute Vol. 5, Absolute Death, and Absolute Sandman: Overture (to my knowledge, this omitts B&W version of Overture from its Absolute). Though this happens long in the past (during Morpheus’s imprisonment), in terms of story placement it should be read between #71-72. This omnibus collects both the Death Deluxe edition as well as the Sandman Overture, Endless Nights, Midnight Theatre, and both versions of the Dream Hunters. If it weren’t for Overture, this would be another perfect 5/5. I would give the Overture portion 3/5 on its own. I know that Overture is almost universally acclaimed, but I just didn’t like it that much. Some fun parts, but overall kind of boring. The main highlight for me was when Morpheus had to go to Hell to retrieve something that was stolen from him and sold by Constantine to a demon. He challenges the demon and wins in front of Lucifer damaging his credibility as the king of Hell! Lucifer Morningstar vows to destroy Morpheus one day, but when Morpheus surprises Lucifer by announcing his return, Lucifer's reaction is something other than unpredictable! Fantastic!

Wonder Woman (1942) #231-232 & 238: See Wonder Woman. These stories are headlined by the Earth 2 AKA Golden Age Wonder Woman, rather than her Silver Age version. Created by a young Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg, The Sandman is one of the most revered comics of all time. It’s a series that’s very near and dear to many readers’ hearts due to its creativity, flesh out characters, and the risks it took. Critics loved it too, with it winning dozens of awards.

Death: The High Cost of Living: Death takes on human form and wanders the earth for a day, a tradition she performs once every century; this tradition is mentioned in the original series and is a more literal vacation.
