About this deal

Burdette, David (4 October 2023). "Robocop: Rogue City demo goes live early on Steam". GAMINGTREND . Retrieved 20 October 2023. RoboCop: Rogue City was announced in July 2021, [11] and the first gameplay trailer was unveiled a year later. [15] RoboCop: Rogue City's story takes place between the events of RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3. Thanks to the appearance of a mysterious new criminal mastermind called 'The New Guy,' a new crime wave has engulfed the city of Old Detroit. Low-life crooks and gangs of all kinds have been causing chaos, destruction, and mass murder on a scale never seen before. Aiming for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, RoboCop: Rogue City will "combine first-person shooter gameplay with exploration of Detroit and multiple-choice dialogue," according to Nacon. The game was first announced last year, and is based on the original 1987 movie – but will tell a brand new story in that setting. It's being developed by Teyon, which previously created Terminator: Resistance.

Rogue City's biggest problem, though, is that its "new" story isn't all that new. Thematically, the story covers much the same ground as the original film, targeting corporate ownership of public institutions, the sweeping aside of the poor for gentrified districts, the shunting aside of human workers in favour of automated machines, and how greed and destitution leads to increases in crime and violence. All of this is fine, but it also repeats a lot of the plot points from the first two films, like OCP seeking to replace RoboCop with a new model, and a b James, Ford (5 June 2023). "RoboCop Rogue City is a souped-up Deus Ex with a sprinkle of Call of Duty". VideoGamer.com . Retrieved 27 August 2023. Downtown Detroit is a great example of the open-world in miniature. It's just big enough to feel like a plausible space, and has just enough stuff in it to lend value to exploration. It also makes decent use of RoboCop's eighties' vision of the future, with missions that take place in a blinking, bleeping arcade and a cramped, colourful VHS store. Many missions also let you choose what kind of RoboCop you want to be, exacting the letter of the law, or putting your faith in the public trust with a more lenient approach. Gamer Network Limited, Gateway House, 28 The Quadrant, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1DN, United Kingdom, registered under company number 03882481.Many locales are either thematically or directly taken from the films, though you do visit some new locations, while blood decals are fittingly exaggerated. | Image credit: Nacon/Eurogamer. The crime-riddled city of Old Detroit, recreated in videogame form. (Image credit: Windows Centra / Nacon) If you’ve never seen the RoboCop movies before and are a casual fan of first-person shooters, RoboCop: Rogue City is still a fun title that stands on its own merits and is worth your time if you can look past its minor flaws. So Terminator is good (currently enjoying on PC) . Robocop is good. The next game better be RoboCop vs Terminator since they have the rights to these worlds.....

RoboCop: Rogue City Xbox review — Imperfect but enjoyable

The gameplay succeeds in making you feel like RoboCop – an unstoppable, walking tank that only enemies equipped with heavy ordnance have the slightest chance of beating. It may not be one of the best Xbox games, but I can say without a doubt it is the best RoboCop game ever made. If you’re a RoboCop fan who grew up watching the movies during the 1980s and 1990s, this is a nostalgic thrill ride you should not miss. At the same time, this isn’t the most technically impressive game when held up next to the flashy big-budget adventures we’re regularly treated to these days. Textures are kind of flat and lighting effects are minimalistic, plus a lot of the gang members’ voices are extremely similar to one another, but there’s something B-movie quality that makes it more forgivable, if not a bit charming. Still, another coat of polish would have gone a long way, especially in cutscenes where all of those issues are more apparent in close-ups. More than once I had audio and video get out of sync, had frozen faces accompany dialogue, and had total game crashes on two occasions. I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR You'll visit Downtown Detroit numerous times, each at a slightly different time of day. Exploring it makes for a leasing change of pace between the more shooting-focused missions, while side quests range from solving murders to busting economically-illiterate drug dealers. | Image credit: Nacon/Eurogamer.
