Platypus is an obscure horizontal shmup that a few have heard of, but if you’re a fan of shmups, you already have heard of this one. Originally developed by Retro64, a small team consisting of 3 developers. Platypus was one of their first games before they were acquired by PopCap Games. Since then, nothing new came out of them.

The Nintendo Switch comes with 32gb of internal storage which is enough to hold a dozen or so games — how many games it can hold depends on their size — but speaking from experience, you’ll want more space. I recommend this 256gb MicroSD card, which has definitely eased my storage anxiety. The “New” Nintendo 2DS XL is Nintendo’s most recent handheld-only game console, and it’s still a great choice for playing games while you’re on the move. Oddly enough, the PlayStation Portable (PSP) is considered a “failure” in certain circles, mainly because despite Sony’s superior hardware, the Nintendo DS had almost double its sales. However, Sony’s handheld device enjoyed a longer run and sold about 82 million units worldwide making it the third on the list of highest selling handheld device and 8th in the rank of highest selling video games of all time. Resistance: Retribution is considered the 3rd instalment in the Resistance franchise, released two years before Resistance 3. Developed by Bend Studio, the same creators behind the Syphon Filter series and Days Gone, Retribution’s plot is set between Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.Modern Warfare® II features a suite of gameplay and graphical innovations that elevate the franchise to new heights, including: Case Condition - Visible surface scratches on the case, may have a few small slits to the outer plastic case. Yes, this requires you to carry an additional accessory with you, which is a little more annoying than hitting the power button on a dedicated handheld, but you already have the major piece of hardware. Smartphones have a lot of storage, huge digital game libraries and excellent battery life. You’ll burn more power playing games, but you’ll get a comparable amount of play time per charge. You might not realize it, but you’re probably using a great handheld gaming system right now: Your smartphone. Whether you’re using an iPhone or Android device, both the App Store and Play Store are full of incredible games. Some games are even ports (a gaming term for version) of games available on dedicated gaming hardware.

Call of Duty: Roads to Victory is the first game in Call of Duty series for PlayStation Portable. It is based on PS2-version of Call of Duty 3, so many mission maps were taken from there though with different objectives and some other changes. The system’s rollout for 2004-2005 was a huge success despite initial concerns that the price was too high considering the fact that it was a handheld device. The lifespan of the system lasted for more than a decade, with lots of other newer versions of it released between the year 2005 and 2011. After a while, the PSP became out-dated and the PS Vita was introduced to replace it, but a lot of core gamers still own and play it, because easily run it with homebrew software.

Brothers in Arms D-Day may seem like a Call of Duty clone at first glance, but the game manages to carve an identity of its own at the end of the day. While the best game in the series is Hell’s Highway, D-Dayisn’t bad at all. Considering it’s exclusive to PSP, you don’t have to expect anything groundbreaking from it. Killzone: Liberation, similar to Resistance: Retribution, is a departure from its predecessors’ first-person-shooting roots. Opting instead for a top-down shooter introduction that paid off pretty well. Thanks to the brilliant visuals, easy-to-learn controls, and captivating gameplay, Killzone: Liberation is arguably the best top-down shooter on the system. Despite shooting games not being the PSP’s strongest selling point, it was a free ground for developers and deliver what many may consider solid shooters.
