About this deal

The Christmas light tradition began in 1963 when a local artist placed a string of lights along the quay at Christmas to make the village more welcoming and attractive. This ritual has grown year on year and now the spectacular showing of lights displays local foodie delicacies, sea serpents and sailboats to name just a few of the installations. The lights stay on from 5pm to 10pm and only get turned off on the 19 th in memory of the Solomon Browne disaster. There’s also an annual Boxing Day BBQ with live music, mulled wine and a treasure hunt, while the fancy dress New Year’s Eve celebrations are also worth a visit. Not only are there mesmeric coastal walks to enjoy with your family and friends (walks that take on a renewed beauty during the frost-covered season of winter), but the Scarborough Fair programme sees a number of light shows taking place throughout the town. Winter breaks are full of relaxed evenings, fresh mornings and frosty walks, with great things to do and local food to savour. It's a season that lets you see places in a new light and offers new experiences that you just can't enjoy at any other time of year - not to mention the huge variety of magical Christmas activities and events throughout December. Stationery: Beautifully designed diaries, calendars and cards can be found, many of them featuring local landscapes and landmarks.

There will be something for all ages to enjoy and interact with and the comments from the Festival last year were very positive and I know many people are looking forward to the Festival this year. The food and drink on offer might harm your wallet as you’ll find a plethora of cheeses, chutneys and fudges to take home, as well as Yorkshire pudding wraps, crepes and waffles to eat as you stroll along. During the weekend, there’s a grotto for the children to visit and live music to keep their toes tapping. Milk Shakes, Burgers, Hot Dogs: Traditional fast food favourites like creamy milkshakes, juicy burgers, and sizzling hot dogs are also on offer for those seeking familiar comfort food. Bow Drill Friction Fire Lighting - come and have a go, ages 12+, up to 8 people. First come, first served.

Mousehole

Finally, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! You will be taken down to meet Santa himself in his beautiful grotto and chat about all of your Christmas wishes. Of course, Santa will provide children with a lovely early Christmas gift and adults will be given a special gift too!

Indulge your taste buds with a wide array of culinary delights. Feast on traditional bakewell puddings and mulled wine that will warm you from the inside out. Sample the flavors of locally produced cheese, mouthwatering chocolates, and other enticing goodies. There’s no shortage of delicious treats to satisfy your cravings. If you want to make one large festive Bakewell Tart, why not give it a go. You’d just need one big flan tin or tart tin and adjust the cooking time accordingly. Make sure you spread the frangipane topping all the way to the edges and enjoy!

The Highlands

Chocolate Fountain: For a sweet treat, there’s a chocolate fountain where you can dip everything from fresh strawberries and apples to fluffy marshmallows and doughnuts, all covered in rich, creamy chocolate. What to Buy Three hundred years ago the cottage was an alehouse, and now guests are invited to experience the house in a way like never before. As well as a range of stalls, there will be delicious street food and lots to entertain the kids - including fun fair rides. Live music from several local guests can be expected for the event.
