About this deal

Day-to-day usage: we ensured the pram was tested on all kinds of terrain looking at how the wheels performed, how easy it was to push, turn, fit through doorways and lift over kerbs or bumps. We also tested the fold mechanism and looked at where it could be stored. We carried out a storage basket test and assessed the seats, such as the recline option and whether you can add a carrycot or car seat. We also tested the effectiveness of the hood and rain cover. Assembly: we noted what was in the box and whether all the basics were included. We looked at the instructions and how easy the pram was to assemble. The Chicco Echo Twin is a pushchair made for families on the go. There’s no messing around with adapters or seats – you simply open it up, strap your children in and off you go. Aesthetics: looking at the materials and colours, we considered whether it was stylish design or more of a practical pushchair, whether the materials were high-quality and if it was built to last to the maximum age limit. The Chicco Echo Twin can be used from newborn up to 15kg. The material is snug to the frame, ensuring no gaps for small fingers to get caught, and the seats nicely padded.

Easy to Fold and Store: It couldn’t possibly get more convenient than the Chicco Cortina Together Double Stroller makes it with the one-hand activated automatic fold and storage latch. It only takes one hand to fully condense the stroller for easy storage. The Chicco Echo Twin Stroller comes with a rain cover that fits over both seats, keeping both children nice and dry. This is a buggy that will, quite literally, go the distance, with a maximum weight limit per seat of 22kg, which is around four years of age. It’s not travel system-compatible, but you can attach a carrycot to give more support in the early months. Cleanliness: we wanted to know what the pram is like to clean. We carried out a cleanliness test to see how well the fabric coped when juice was spilled and how easily mud came off. Being a popular worldwide brand, Chicco’s instruction manual comes in multiple languages. It includes good diagrams and explanations on how to assemble and use the pram, as well as basic care information.Measuring just 66.5cm wide and weighing in at only 10.5kg, it’s very much geared towards urban life, fitting through most doorways with the ability to be wheeled in and out of your home. Our four-year-old’s toes did occasionally pop out of the bottom, but she otherwise stayed dry. The cover folds up small when not in use and can be stored in one of the storage baskets. How easy is the Chicco Echo Twin to push? Now in its seventh generation, the iCandy Peach is a super versatile tandem buggy. Whether you want to use it as a single pram, a double buggy or a pushchair for twins, the pram offers up to 25 different configurations using seats, car seats and carrycots. The Thule Urban Glide 2 Double is pretty much ready to go straight from the box, which most will appreciate, and it boasts an intuitive design with a simple fold mechanism and an adjustable handlebar, with all other adjustment points on the pram highlighted helpfully in blue.

The Chicco Echo came in close to the bottom with the Combi Twin Cosmo earning a 4 of 10 score, only the Jeep scored lower in this metric. The Echo required at least a 39 degree angle before tipping over. This was one of the steepest angles in our review for this category. The Jeep matched this angle before succumbing to gravity, and the Joovy had the worst tip angle in the bunch at just 29 degrees. Age range: Newborn to four years | Maximum load: 15kg in each seat | Product weight: 10.5kg | Dimensions: 63 × 66.5 × 25cm (folded); 94.5 × 66.5 × 102.5cm (unfolded) | Travel system-compatible: No | Orientation: Side by side What we loveWe’ve tried so many double buggies but have found the Mountain Buggy Duet to be our favourite” - recommended by Mumsnet user, river12 Our verdict I had one years ago and still have fond memories... loved loved loved it - Mumsnet user, Shylo Our verdict This product is difficult to push and turn on most surfaces regardless of their structure. When we started the initial push it seemed to do well, but once the slightest turn or obstacle was placed in its path, it started to suffer considerably. The dual front wheel design on each frame leg meant we hit just about everything in our wake that was even remotely close to the stroller. We ran off course and into more things with this stroller than any other product we tested in this category. It is harder to push and turn than most of the others we reviewed. The folding mechanism is fairly simple to get to grips with and, when folded, the buggy is compact and easy to store, both in a car boot and at home.

The individual hoods, on the other hand, are fairly basic and offer no UV protection, only just covering the top of a child’s head in low winter sun. While you can remove the rear section of the hood to offer more air on hot days, this isn't a function that parents would get much use out of. We’d prefer a deeper, more effective, hood. Is there a rain cover? Read next: How to clean a pram, including tried-and-tested tips from Mumsnetters Best double buggies at a glance Limited Coverage: The umbrellas that come with the stroller are smaller in size, which result in them not protecting your children completely from the sun. If you live in an environment with less sun exposure, then this may not be a concern for you—but if the sun is intense or even strong enough to bother your wee one, then you may want to think of other options to protect them from the sun’s harmful rays.Because the Echo Twin is very user-friendly, you’re unlikely to need the instructions again once you're set up. However, the manual includes warranty information, which is two years for manufacturing defaults, and head office details should you need them. There’s no denying that the Peach 7 is pricey, but its versatility and slimline design makes it a great option for parents of twins. Available in a range of stylish colours and designs, it’s also a pram that will definitely turn heads. Credit: Micah JamesThe Echo Twin requires depressing three different pedals for proper engagement. This is less desirable than a single or even double action brake system. The tendency might be for parents to inadvertently forget to engage all three brakes, or to only engage one or two out of habit and to make it easier to get going again. The brakes were average to set and release, and are sandal foot friendly. There is a little bit of play in the brakes once set, with only 1 product having more play, the Combi Twin Cosmo. We tasked busy mum-of-two Liz with putting the double buggies through their paces. At Mumsnet, we believe like-for-like comparisons are the fairest and most consistent way to test products because each one is tested by the same person in the same scenarios for at least a week. Side-by-side double buggies tend to be wider than the average pram so may not be suitable for public transport or small car boots. They often have roomy storage baskets though and can be folded easily, but if you have an older child who often wants to walk, the second seat will sit empty. Most are suitable from birth or you may be able to attach an infant carrycot or car seat. Tandem (inline) double buggy

To ensure the products were safe, Gemma chatted to Philip LeShirley, Product Safety Advisor at The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), who advised what to look for when purchasing a pram to ensure it’s safe to use.If you want a double pushchair that folds up easily and doesn’t take up too much room, this could well be it. The Echo Twin doesn’t claim to have a one-handed fold, as you see on the likes of the iCandy Peach 6, but with a bit of practice it can be done. Its footprint is useful when going to shops and restaurants where space is limited, and it should fit neatly into a designated pushchair space on the bus.* The buggy bumped over kerbs well and the swivelling front wheels give it a fairly tight turning circle. The handlebars are padded for comfort but not extendable, though they are a decent height which suited Liz’s tall partner (6ft 3). While the buggy can be pushed one-handed, it’s difficult to steer, which is mostly down to the split handlebar. The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double is a lightweight double stroller that caters well to both babies and toddlers.
