About this deal

I prefer to call it Homo daliensis, but it’s not a big deal,” he said. “The important thing is the third lineage of later humans that are separate from Neanderthals and separate from Homo sapiens.” Details are published in three papers in The Innovation. Harvati found the Harbin skull an intriguing mix of features previously associated with other lineages. “Middle Pleistocene human evolution is known to be extremely complex—famously called the 'muddle in the middle,’” she says. “And it has been clear for some time that the Asian human fossil record may hold the key to understanding it.” It's a spectacular fossil," says María Martinón-Torres, the director of Spain's National Research Center on Human Evolution, who was not involved in the suite of papers. But many puzzles still endure from this stage of human history — especially in East Asia. Over the past few decades, paleoanthropologists have found a number of fossils, many incomplete or damaged, that have some features that make them look like our own species and other features that suggest they belong elsewhere on the hominin family tree.

This workshop lead by Dragon Communicator Alphedia Arara introduces you to working with the Crystalline Dragon Skulls. Then there are the mysterious Denisovans. Though not formally recognized as its own species, this group likely inhabited Asia for tens of thousands of years, and many Asian fossils have been suggested as members. But because scientists have found only meager fossil traces of their existence, genetic confirmation is necessary—and DNA preservation becomes increasingly unlikely with older fossils. According to Ni et al. 2021 [1] (note, Xiahe and Denisovans are most closely related to Neanderthals according to nDNA and ancient protein analyses. [5]) That scenario seems likely, especially given the surprising mix of features on the Harbin skull, says paleoanthropologist Katerina Harvati of Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen in Germany, who did not participate in the new studies. Regardless of whether Dragon Man is a new species, its stunningly preserved features are a reminder that nature rarely paints inside the lines, and that categorization will only get more complex as new discoveries emerge.

Katerina Harvati, a paleoanthropologist at the University of Tübingen in Germany who was not involved in the new study, said that the Dragon Man skull could “help clarify some of the confusion.” Keep reading list of 3 items list 1 of 3 Researchers find ‘new type of early human’ near Israel’s Ramla list 2 of 3 A mammoth discovery: Giant remains found near Mexico City list 3 of 3 World’s oldest DNA sequenced from million-year-old mammoths end of list

More than 100,000 years ago, several human species coexisted in Asia, Europe and Africa, including Homo sapiens, Neanderthals ( Homo neanderthalensis) and Denisovans. We Dragons wish to help you transform out of fear consciousness and to assist others in moving out of fear consciousness also. The researchers estimated Dragon Man’s evolutionary status using statistical comparisons to other Middle Pleistocene Homo fossils from Africa, Asia and Europe. These comparisons indicated that H. longi shared a common ancestor with H. sapiens around 949,000 years ago, while the common ancestor of Neandertals and H. sapiens dated to just over 1 million years ago. If so, then H. longi had a slightly closer evolutionary relationship to H. sapiens than Neandertals did.
