About this deal

I absolutely love this movie. I still recall vividly being devastated with joy at how great this was in the theater. It was so revolutionary for its time with the several protagonists POVs, the nonlinear plot, and even the cinematography. There are so many little touches and nuances in this film from Jules taking his time eating the burger and menacingly slurping the drink at the beginning to him amusedly looking on and keeping eating while the couple were robbing the diner. Audio: English (DTS-HD MA 5.1), German (DTS-HD MA 5.1), Italian (Dolby Digital 5.1), French (Dolby Digital 2.0), Japanese (Dolby Digital 2.0) While Pulp Fiction isn’t a masterpiece of filmmaking as some might contend, it’s still a very well made picture with the sharp writing we expect from Tarantino and one of the better ensemble casts put together.

Pulp Fiction - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray [SteelBook] - High Def Digest

Pulp Fiction 4K Blu-ray delivers stunning video and reference-quality audio in this exceptional Blu-ray release Paramount's SteelBook is glossy and will show some handling fingerprints. The front panel is predominately red at the top where the film's title in It’s no exaggeration to say that Pulp Fiction 4K made a big splash. ‘Cool’ filmmaking was once again a possibility. The hushed praise that had been reserved for Martin Scorsese —‘what’s he doing now?’‘Who’s in it?’ turned to speculation about Quentin’s filmic intentions. I was working all night at a video dub house early in 1994, when a flat film-chain transfer of Pulp Fiction was being duplicated. The shop practically shut down, as 20 people gathered around a single 19″ monitor to get a glimpse at the highly-anticipated picture. Pulp Fiction 4K UHD (1994) - Blu-ray Forum Pulp Fiction 4K UHD (1994) - Blu-ray Forum

Pulp Fiction was honored with an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (1994) and earned seven total nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for Quentin Tarantino. Easily one of the most anticipated catalog titles to date, Pulp Fiction arrives in Ultra HD in both a standard 4K and Limited-Edition 4K Steelbook (the subject of this review). I am thrilled that it is now a part of my Ultra HD Blu-ray library. Read on to see my thoughts on its technical aspects. Jules and Vincent are aggressively straight. Their hilariously mundane conversation may have convinced America’s action film devotees that good dialogue actually makes a difference — Tarantino’s speeches veer between Shakesperian oratory and the best of sitcom bandinage . . . plus the kind of 100-proof profanity that would stop grandma’s heart dead cold. Through nine films now (counting Kill Bill as one), director Quentin Tarantino has taken us on a hard-boiled, blood-soaked tour of his cinematic roots. Since arriving on the scene with Reservoir Dogs in 1992, he’s paid homage to gangster films, samurai revenge epics, HK cinema, spaghetti westerns, exploitation films, and WWII commando actioners. His most recent and arguably most personal work, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, is itself an homage to the place and time of his youth. But of all his films, it’s Pulp Fiction that best represents the Tarantino style in its purest, freest form. Pulp Fiction : The Facts – Documentary (30:31) is a retrospective feature covering the origins of the film as well as how Quentin Tarantino broke into the business with Reservoir Dogs. It also features interviews with others involved with the production. What is perhaps Tarantino’s finest effort arrives in a magnificent 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray restoration from Paramount. Highly recommended. Pulp Fiction is out in Limited-Edition 4K SteelBook and 4K Ultra HD Combo December 6, 2022, from Paramount Home Entertainment

Pulp Fiction arrives on 4K Ultra HD for the first time and, apparently, approved by Tarantino, though I often wonder if it’s a matter of watching one shot and calling it good. Whatever the case, this 2160p high-definition transfer does look great and a decent upgrade over the previous Blu-ray release. Detail is well defined and colors appear well balanced. Watching I didn’t notice any significant or obvious signs of artifacts, aliasing or other flaws. A substantial audience saw Pulp Fiction and Tarantino’s success d’estime was even greater; he was able to build his next picture around an actress who hadn’t been a star since the ’70s and blaxploitation. If the Weinstein scandals haven’t done too much damage to Tarantino, it’s likely because his movie odes to ’70s trash cinema left out those exploitationers’ pervasive sexism — the female characters may not always be well treated, but they aren’t humiliated for cheap laughs or girlie nudity. When somebody gets raped in Pulp Fiction, it’s a guy. Here Are Some Facts on the Fiction (20:37) is a roundtable discussion with some random critics as they talk about why Pulp Fiction stood out and how it stood the test of time (though the panel has its distracter as well). The subtle minutia visible in the clothing and facial features among the members of the cast was striking. Grain remains intact, with an even and, primarily filmic essence, that underscores the thematic content. The color range in the film is surprisingly broad and, the rendering of both primary and secondary colors proves gratifying and contrastingly vivid. I also found that fleshtones appeared gradational and quite natural. Hands down, this is the best Pulp fiction has looked on home video. Kudos to Paramount Home Entertainment. Hopefully we can expect more of this type of support of the Ultra HD releases from their extensive catalog.

Pulp Fiction – Limited Edition Steelbook (4K UHD Review)

For those not familiar with the details regarding Ultra HD Blu-ray you can refer to my article that includes some pertinent data on the subject. Here is the link: Executive producers, Co-producers Bob Weinstein, Harvey Weinstein, Danny DeVito, Richard N. Gladstein, Michael Shamberg, Stacey Sher |Hopefully this is a sign that the rest of his catalogue is going to be released on that date as well Once Upon A Time In Hollywood includedIt's not terrible, at least it isn't one of those god awful mondo artwork ones - but I would have preferred the original reclining Uma artwork. The 4K master looks amazing, never seen the film like this. The extra content is all there, between the 4k disk and the blu ray (included in the steelbook). Independent Spirit Awards (11:29) and Cannes Film Festival: Palme D’or Acceptance Speech (5:20; SD) just shows off the accolades Pulp Fiction received via these award ceremonies. The lives of two mob hitmen, a boxer, a gangster and his wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption.

Pulp Fiction Receives Long-Awaited 4K Ultra Release With a

Maynard, Zed and Marsellus, Jimmy (entirely), Fabienne (entirely), and Vincent/Butch and the toaster. QT wasn’t some crazy rebel filmmaker. He established himself as an old-fashioned auteurist, and demonstrated considerable loyalty to his creative contributors. Co-writer Roger Avary had assisted on Reservoir Dogs . The same went for Tarantino’s ace editrix Sally Menke, producers Lawrence Bender & Richard N. Gladstein, cinematographer Andrzej Sekula, & costumer Betsy Heimann. If what’s wanted for Ultra HD is a ’90s hit, this is a likely candidate fer sher . . . Quentin Tarantino’s epic-length crime ‘meditation’ won over most of its audience. Its extreme scenes make sense, and the tone is sharp and funny. There’s no denying that QT was in full command of his filmmaking, putting exactly what he wanted on the screen. Pulp Fiction was unlike any other film I had seen at the time. My first reaction to it wasn’t an especially positive one. It wasn’t that I disliked it but, I didn’t care for Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs and wasn’t sure what to make of the overtly dark, crass humor, nonlinear storyline, mishmash of elements and period references in this film. Then I watched it again. The second time around I came to fully appreciate Pulp Fiction for the intriguing film noir that it is. The wonderfully crafted narrative revolves around three intersecting storylines that feature Los Angeles based mobsters, small-time crooks, a crooked boxer and a mysterious briefcase. Paramount Home Video’s 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Code Steelbook of Pulp Fiction 4K didn’t let me down — the older Blu-rays were fine but this 4K do-over pops with color and sharpness. The razor-keen banter still keeps us at attention; QT’s dialogue seldom feel false or shows its age. Is it because he has us off-balance most of the time?

Pulp Fiction is most decidedly a classic film but, depending on who you talk to, the reaction to it isn’t in line with what we envision when we think of a true “classic”. Be that as it may, there is no doubt that writer/director Quentin Tarantino got it right. Among my favorite films, I love it for its rich, eclectic dialogue, ironic use of humor, and wonderfully infused pop culture/references, that combine with its edgy neo-noir, to make for one of the most entertaining films of the nineties.
