About this deal

Mido outfits most Ocean Star watches with an automatic caliber from ETA, a Swiss movement manufacturer. The caliber 80 with an Mido was known for being progressive and ahead of its time. As a result, it was natural that Mido Robot was chosen as the brand ambassador. Mido kept setting different benchmarks for their watches, and the technology incorporated in them. In 1954, they launched the power wind winding system, which improved the power reserve for Mido watches. At the same time, this technology also improved the reliability of these timepieces by reducing the use of components. Impressive Models from Mido

In an “office” GMT, the first détente on the crown sets the GMT hand, usually in 1-hr increments. It moves independently of all the other hands. The sapphire crystal on the Mido is flat, and treated with AR coating inside and out. The AR works commendably well, and so far remains unmarked. Being flat, the crystal does give quite a sterile view of the dial below, there is no distortion you might get from a dome, or edge issues seen with a box crystal. It suits the austere nature of the design, but perhaps a low dome would have leant a little more class. In honor of the Baroncelli collection's 30th anniversary in 2006, Mido released a new collection of classic, minimalist timepieces inspired by string instruments. The addition of the Belluna collection in 2008 marked Mido's first line of Art Deco watches.

Ocean Star Powerwind . Produced in the 1960s, this 35-mm stainless steel watch features the Ocean Star's characteristic single-shell case. This means that the dial has to be removed to service the automatic caliber 1117P1 below. After every few years, Mido launched new watches, redefining the making of these timepieces, and crafting them in sync with the décor of the era. They marked the 30th anniversary of the Baroncelli watches with a new edition that reinstated the soul of the existing model. It was inspired by modern aesthetics and was a delightful interpretation of the 30-year-old model. Mido also released the Belluna watches to mark the 90th anniversary of the brand. It comes with impressive aesthetics and state-of-the-art technology. The latter models are all inspired by famous monuments of the present world. For instance, the 2008 Great Wall edition was inspired by the Great Wall of China. The Ocean Star Edition I should say that Mido are not active in the UK market. They have no dealer network or even an agent over here. Nor will they sell direct to customers. I did ask Mido directly, but they refused. I like the little details touches when in motion too. The end of the hour hand just hovers over the inside edge of the date window as it passes 3. The minute hand tip reaches the inner edge minute indices. The ends of the second and GMT hands are at the outer edge of minute indices too. The widest part of the second hand’s lume passes perfectly over the inner edge of the hour indices. These are intentional and pleasing things to see. For more information about how we handle complaints at Klarna, please refer to our complaints handling procedure.

The limited warranty does not cover any damage if there is evidence of excessive wear and tear. It does not cover external physical damage to the watches, including: The card is valid (i.e. has not expired) and issued to you, and you have sufficient funds on the card. It was with some interest that I read that the Swatch group were developing the Powermatic 80 movements to have a traveller GMT feature, and I was very pleased to see that the Mido Ocean Star GMT, which is one of the first, was so attractive. And everyone else usually offers the office GMT from using the exact same movement, the ETA 2893-2. The latter? Everyone else. Well, everyone apart from a few Omegas, and their recent innovation, a non-GMT complication in the calibre 8500 movement family, which offers timezone-setting (1-hr increments) on 3-handed watches.Today, the Ocean Star has grown into a comprehensive collection of modern diving watches. Each timepiece has a unidirectional diving bezel, luminous hands and indices, sapphire crystal, and a screw-down crown. While most models are water-resistant to 200 m (20 bar, 656 ft), top models can dive down to The lume quality seems good too, with a strong glow as you transition from light into dark, and long-lasting readability. It is easy to differentiate the hands in the dark, as well as orientate the dial. The chamfers on the case corners, the castellated edge of the bezel, the crown, the surface of the ceramic bezel insert, the facets of the hands and indices.

These elevate what could otherwise look a little utilitarian into something smarter and even perhaps dressier. The Mido uses rectangular indices all round, apart from double squares at 12 and 6, and a single square to accommodate the date at 3. Even the 12-marker on the bezel is a square, albeit with a round lume pip within. The hands are folded, with a brushed centre section and polished edges. The H and M hands have rectangular lume sections on the outer ends, and empty windows on the pinion end. Both the GMT and the seconds hand have blue arrow heads. Ocean Star is one of the oldest and most successful models in the Mido catalog. The first Ocean Star debuted in 1944, making it one of the earliest water-resistant watches. Its single-shell (or "monocoque") stainless steel case and then-revolutionary cork sealing system made waves in the industry. In Spanish, mido means "I measure." In 1918, company founder Georges Schaeren selected this name for his new business because he felt it reflected a desire for technical innovation and precise design. Mido's early years coincided with the advent of the automobile industry. It was, therefore, natural that the manufacturer specialized in wristwatches inspired by radiator grills used by early automakers. The Traveller GMT is often seen as being a more functional and exclusive complication. Some people even refer to it as a “true” GMT movement, but I think it is unhelpful as it adds a layer of unwarranted snobbery to the argument. It is also true that some of the Seiko watches that have this setting method use the Kinetic family of movements and are very modest, so the snobbery is unjustified. All items sold by Guruwatches.co.uk are 100% genuine, authentic and brand new with their original serial numbers intact(where applicable). With the launch of Ocean Star, the company also introduced two new technologies, the Aquadura and Power wind. It contributed towards power reserve and resistance, a much-needed aspect in watches. Mido Ocean Star 200 Mido designed exemplary watch models to meet the precision and reliability needs of the customer. Apart from the Mido Ocean Star watches that revolutionized the watchmaking world, they also designed the Bodyguard and Worldtimer. The bodyguard watch was designed as a personal protector to the wearer of this piece. It came with an integrated alarm that rang up to 100 decibels. The Worldtimer was the world’s first-ever analogue watch that indicated the local time of the country. This concept helped people know the real time for that country. Mido was also responsible for developing the smallest ladies’ watch during this period. It was focused on improving their brand’s visibility as well. Their brand’s slogan “Reflecting on Time” said a lot about their aim to brand through precision.

This Caliber 80 movement was defined to enhance the Ocean Star watches. This is also Mido’s flagship movement. This movement includes anti-magnetic properties and offers far better accuracy than regular spring mechanisms. That’s precisely why it is special and has redefined precision for Mido watches. It also offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours, which makes the automatic movement essential for modern watches. It also helps divers sustain for a longer duration under water. Look Timeless with a Mido Ocean Star Why is this important? Simply put, the list of companies offering traveller GMT watches is very small, and the list of those offering Office GMT watches is very long. m (20 bar, 656 ft). Prices for the Ocean Star Captain V in titanium sit between 990 and 1,100 USD. Stainless steel models generally cost slightly less at 880 to 1,000 USD. Two-tone editions are the exception, demanding around 1,200 USD.We aim to handle all complaints promptly, effectively and in a positive manner.
