About this deal

Beauty Advent calendars are significantly pricier than chocolate ones, but they've become increasingly popular in the last few years as a way of bagging beauty products at a fraction of the normal cost. They often sell out early, but can also be heavily discounted later if they don't, so here's a round-up of some of the best I’ve seen. Superdrug adds new 'VIP Rewards' offers to its existing loyalty scheme – here's what you need to know

we might be having trouble getting power at the location (we’re not allowed to use domestic or street lighting supplies for our cabinets). Customers will have one of five different types of Openreach modem, they all work in the same way, but the type and number of lights may vary between devices. Try and position it on a shelf or table. Wi-Fi signals go down as well as up, so if you put it on the floor, a proportion of the signal will go through the floorboards. 5 - Avoid mirrors, windows and fish tanks Airband are installing overhead FTTP across much of the area, but my understanding is that our power distribution company (Scottish Power Energy Networks) has refused access to their low voltage poles (i.e. those carrying power from the pole-mounted transformer to the customer).Homeowners of new-builds have, in the past, complained about delays for phones and broadband. There’s also a concern that the Openreach set-up means there’s less need to keep prices competitive for customers. Below are six simple steps to help improve your wireless Internet signal: 1 - Find a central location If you're a fibre customer you might have an Openreach modem (or ONT) installed. This white box connects to a fibre optic cable, which runs directly to your house and allows you to access our fibre network for broadband and voice.

If it were me I'd pay a local installer/engineer to do it but you really aught not to have bothered OpenReach expecting anything less than a large bill (set at whatever they fancy they can get off you). Openreach comment they can now provide fttp at 98Km from an exchange, I’d assume that’s a miniscule number of properties and an eyewatering proposition financially.Mini UPS to ensure power continuity for connected equipment during power outages. An affordable and compact UPS providing power to Internet routers, IP cameras, Home assistants and Smart controllers Find out more about a Fibre Community Partnership and express your interest in getting Ultrafast Full Fibre broadband. With that in mind this is the new Huawei ONT. The new Nokia one is for Nokia ONTs. The same ECI kit for the awful ECI OLT configuration. Where’s the line card and chassis coming from to do this? Huawei sell specific kit for specific purposes. I’m not aware of the OLTs Openreach use supporting CWDM, neither these subtended ones or the headend units – Huawei actually sell a specific chassis, the OSN 1800, for WDM. Not sure why the alternative has to be something PoE capable. The existing has worked fine for a few hundred thousand installs. Something for consideration in the future as I’ve said but I can’t see either SFP or wires-only being a thing unless plugging the fibre into an Openreach approved router that they are able to provision.

Switch off anything else that's connected to your router, like other computers, consoles or devices It sounds strange, but water can absorb the Wi-Fi signal, reducing the distance it can travel. Placing it near a mirror will also cause the wireless radio waves to reflect, which can have a negative impact on performance by scattering and distorting the signal. It's not just mirrors, either. Be wary of stainless steel countertops, filing cabinets, or any other flat, reflective surfaces. 6 - Avoid electronic items Following pressure from MPs and BT’s competitors, a review was set up by the UK’s telecoms regulator, Ofcom. It was concerned that as BT owned the network most other broadband providers used, it held a monopoly over the UK telecoms industry, as well as an unfair advantage. There was also criticism that faults weren’t being fixed for competitor internet service providers (ISPs) as fast as they were for BT.The BT-Openreach contractors told me that they areinstalling 1.0 Gbps to the estate. The installation has the physical appearance of being FTTdp on the telegraph pole next to my house. I have recently built an extension on my end of terrace property. Im now at the stage of putting roof on. There is a telephone cable that is in the way, currently it is in the roof space.

For the most part, you shouldn’t need to get in touch with Openreach unless you spot any dodgy damage to telephone exchanges - your broadband provider will arrange an Openreach engineer to come to you. However, it can be of help to those who don’t have access to broadband; either because they’re living in a rural community, or if they’ve moved to a new build. I have used a PoE splitter on my “MK2” ONT enabling me to lose the PSU. Quite happy that I have the BBU casing as it’s all very nice and neat with CAT6 in the wall. Agree it would be nice if it was PoE for those with PoE switches which is quite common with IP based CCTV systems these days.

A much smaller cable will be run through the wall and attached to another box on the inside of your property. This internal box, called an ONT, will be around 13cm x 11cm.
