About this deal

Simeticone often comes combined with other ingredients such as medicines to treat indigestion ( antacids) or diarrhoea. When it's combined with other ingredients, brand names include Maalox Plus and Imodium Plus. Key facts Stomach acid is produced in the stomach as a normal part of the digestive process. However, too much stomach acid can cause symptoms such as heartburn and indigestion. Antacids work by binding to and neutralising excess acid. This helps to relieve the pain and discomfort of heartburn and indigestion associated with excess stomach acid.

Maalox Plus is a form of treatment for heartburn, indigestion, and flatulence. It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach as well as reducing the amount of gas in the stomach. There are three active ingredients:Allergic reactions, such as itching, hives or swelling of the face, throat and tongue (angioedema). Maalox Plus should not be taken at the same time as other medicines. This is because Maalox Plus can affect the way other medicines work. If Maalox Plus is taken within one hour of any other medicine, it can affect the uptake of that medicine into the blood. Medicines used to treat some allergic, inflammatory or abnormal immune reactions such as glucocorticoids Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side effects get serious or lasts longer than a few days. Also tell them if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet

Simeticone is a mixture of silica gel and dimeticone (or dimethicone), a type of silicone, and is also known as activated dimeticone. It works by bringing together the small gas bubbles in your gut to form bigger bubbles, allowing trapped air to pass through your body more easily. Medicines used to treat joint pains and abnormal chemical reactions in the body such as penicillamine Large doses of this product may trigger or aggravate intestinal obstruction and ileus in patients at risk (see section 4.4).Maalox Suspension contains two different medicines. They are called aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide. They belong to a group of medicines called antacids.

Each 5ml of suspension contains 175mg of aluminium hydroxide and 200mg of magnesium hydroxide as the active ingredients. Pregnant women should get advice from their doctor, pharmacist or midwife before using this medication. The manufacturer states that the safety of the medicine in pregnancy has not been established. However, antacids are generally considered safe to take during pregnancy, provided you do not exceed the recommended dose, and simeticone is not absorbed into the bloodstream from the gut. If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately. You have kidney problems. Long term exposure to high doses of Maalox Suspension can lead to dementia.Hypophosphatemia, this may occur at high doses of the product or even at normal doses especially in patients with low phosphorus diets Each bottle contains the following active substances in each 5ml of suspension: 230mg of dried aluminium hydroxide gel, 200mg of magnesium hydroxide and 25mg of simeticone Maalox Plus is a white suspension, homogenous after shaking and is available in a plastic bottle. Each bottle contains 250ml or 355ml with polypropylene closure.

You are pregnant, might become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant. You should not take Maalox Suspension during the first three months of pregnancy It may also help with colic in babies, although there's not much scientific evidence that simeticone really works for this. No effects on the breastfed newborns/infant are anticipated since the systemic exposure of the breast-feeding woman to aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide is negligible. Some medicines used to treat infections such as tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, rifampicin and ketoconazole Maalox plus suspension contains sorbitol and should not be taken by people with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance. Some medicines may be affected by magnesium hydroxide or they may affect how well magnesium hydroxide will work. Equivalent of Dried Aluminium Hydroxide Gel 230 mg, Magnesium Hydroxide 200mg and Simeticone 25 mg in each 5 ml. Aluminium hydroxide may cause constipation and magnesium salts overdose may cause hypomotility of the bowel; large doses of this product may trigger or aggravate intestinal obstruction and ileus in patients at higher risk such as those with renal impairment, or the elderly. you have needed to use heartburn or indigestion remedies continuously for two or more weeks to control your symptoms Anti Malaria Malaria is a serious tropical disease spread by mosquitoes.
