This muzzle has a basket design that attaches easily to a field-safe headcollar (we recommend pairing it with the Shires Greenguard Headcollar) via four safe straps which will break if the horse gets the muzzle caught. The muzzle is highly-durable and UV resistant, made from safe, pliable food-grade material. The Greenguard Muzzle is designed to "hang" from the headcollar, sitting away from the muzzle to prevent sweating (and subsequent itching) and rubs.

SIZING (U.S. and Canada only): These muzzles are designed to fit much larger than traditional muzzles. If your horse is between sizes we recommend going with the larger size. Horse size typically fits horses with 5-6 inch bit. Pony: 4.25-4.75 inch bit. Mini: 3.5-4 inch bit. How long should a horse wear a grazing muzzle?

The rigid basket squared design is perfect for horses as it does not sit on the nostril, allowing complete air flow to the nose. With 4 straps, the muzzle is completely adjustable to the length of nose of your horse, and if they happen to break them, are easily replaced. PLEASE NOTE: the grazing muzzle will not prevent founder or laminitic episodes from happening. The muzzle is designed to reduce grass intake. Pressure points on the horses nose can impact their air intake, so the square rigid design of the Greenguard grazing muzzle allows a lot of room across the nostril of the horse. We recommend you introduce your horse to the Greenguard Muzzle gradually, building up the wear time slowly. It normally takes a short time for the horse to learn how to use the Greenguard Muzzle, so it may be beneficial to push grass through the slots to help your horse or pony to understand.
