About this deal

The switch is easy to add to an existing Wiz system, but has fairly limited functionality. It can only be used to turn the lights on or off with a press, and to raise and lower their brightness with a long press of each button. There’s no option for enabling preset lighting scenes, and we encountered a couple of strange issues with the Wiz app during the setup process. This unit supports both ‘neutral wire’ and ‘no neutral wire’ operation and is our very latest release (current models to be phased out). The unit in addition to WiFi also supports BLE (Bluetooth low energy). A WiFi to Bluetooth hub can also be added if required. Read our full Jasco Enbrighten Z-Wave No Neutral Smart Dimmer review Smart light switch accessories When shopping for smart light switches, you will come across switches and plugs. Switches come with the convenience of working as regular light switches with natural operation whilst boasting features such as app remote control and timing automations.

If a light fixture is controlled by more than one switch — for example, when you have a light switch at the top and bottom of a set of stairs — then you'll need to get a three-way smart light switch. However, if there's only one switch controlling an outlet, you can get a "single pole" switch. Most smart switches depend on the presence of a neutral wire to supply energy to their radios, but many homes built prior to the 1980s don’t have a neutral wire in every box. GE Cync and Lutron Caséta are among the few smart switches that don’t depend a neutral wire.

I recently swapped over my office light with a Yagusmart single gang light switch which worked well once i change the DH to Zigbee Switch within ST. The switch itself looks high-tech, with several buttons laid out to control the numerous options Caséta offers. Lutron has gone for function over fashion for the most part with this dimmer: The white and gray buttons are front and center, not hidden by touch-sensitive controls, as is the case with other dimmers in this category. With geolocation your smart home will know if you are in or away from your home. This means you can easily trigger events based on your location. If for example you are on your way home from work, once you enter a preset distance around your home your smart light switches will activate a scene and turn your lights on. So when you arrive home your porch and hallway lights can be on ready for you.

As for wired smart switches, these require a basic understanding of home electrics. You’ll need to turn off the power at the fuse box, then remove your old switch, detach the wires and fit them to the smart switch. It’s all relatively simple, as long as you’re aware of which wire is which. Someone with basic DIY skills should be able to sway a regular wall switch for a smart one in just a few minutes. Are smart light switches battery powered? Generally speaking, you have the choice between smart on/off and dimmer switches, if you are replacing your existing switch. Just had a 3 gang version delivered for my garage and outside lights, and i am struggling with the 3rd switch. I stumbled on changing the DH to Zigbee Multi Switch which then makes the 2nd switch a Child to the Parent and seems to work perfectly for the 2, but had not joy getting ST to see the 3rd switch, but as it happens i don’t need that at the moment - would be nice to have the option thought. Lutron's smart starter kit comes with one in-wall switch, one wireless remote and one smart bridge (hub), which can also be used to connect other Lutron products (such as its smart plugs and Serena smart shades) to the cloud and control them.On/off control and peace-of-mind for plug-in products such as slow-cookers, heaters, hair-straighteners, lamps and more What makes smart light switches stand out is their remote control feature. Some smart light switches are Wifi controlled – allowing you to connect them to your home’s Wifi network. This means that you can then control them remotely using their proprietary app. Others work off Z-Wave or Zigbee protocols so you can integrate with a compatible smart hub.

If you already have Hue lights, then all you'll need to do is go to the Hue app, set up an accessory, and choose which lights you'd like the switch to control. With the app, you can have the Smart Dimmer Switch trigger custom scenes, as well. Holiday timers mean you can turn lights on and off at preset times to make it look like you are home, preventing the risk of burglaries. def getEndpoint (child) { child.deviceNetworkId == device.deviceNetworkId?getInitialEndpoint():Integer.parseInt(child.deviceNetworkId.split(":")[-1], 16) } That said, if you’re looking for a very simple and portable switch for Wiz lighting, this is what you’ll need. We can see it being particularly useful if your traditional wired light switches are poorly located, perhaps behind some furniture, and you want a replacement switch that is easy to install (providing you also have some Wiz smart bulbs, of course). Supports both ‘Neutral Wire’ and ‘No Neutral Wire’ present operation. (Capacitor included for no neutral operation – see additional images for wiring)From an installation point of view, you can use it to replace your old, traditional wall light switch as it fits in the same 86-type box, so you don't have to worry about making any major changes to your home's electrical system. Three mode switching namely: 1. touch panel, 2. Wifi (mobile phone + configure all aspects predefine ON/OFF etc) & 3. Bluetooth (mobile phone – WiFi to Bluetooth hub can also be added if required.) It has a maximum dimmable load of 280W (non-LED) and a current rating of 1 Amp. It comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. Signify’s Philips Hue bridge is another solution, but it’s generally limited to supporting Philips Hue smart bulbs and accessories. Zigbee is widely support among smart dimmer manufacturers, including Jasco, Sinopé, and Sengled. Lutron also makes an ingenious Zigbee gadget for Philips Hue smart bulbs— the Lutron Aurora—that attaches to an old-fashioned toggle light switch and not only prevents the switch from being turned off (instantly rendering a Philips Hue smart bulb dumb), but it wirelessly controls all the Hub bulbs connected to that switch—complete with a rotary knob for dimming and brightening those bulbs and turning them on or off.
