The switch is easy to add to an existing Wiz system, but has fairly limited functionality. It can only be used to turn the lights on or off with a press, and to raise and lower their brightness with a long press of each button. There’s no option for enabling preset lighting scenes, and we encountered a couple of strange issues with the Wiz app during the setup process. This unit supports both ‘neutral wire’ and ‘no neutral wire’ operation and is our very latest release (current models to be phased out). Switches come with the convenience of working as regular light switches with natural operation whilst boasting features such as app remote control and timing automations.
If a light fixture is controlled by more than one switch — for example, when you have a light switch at the top and bottom of a set of stairs — then you'll need to get a three-way smart light switch. However, if there's only one switch controlling an outlet, you can get a "single pole" switch. Most smart switches depend on the presence of a neutral wire to supply energy to their radios, but many homes built prior to the 1980s don’t have a neutral wire in every box. GE Cync and Lutron Caséta are among the few smart switches that don’t depend a neutral wire.
I recently swapped over my office light with a Yagusmart single gang light switch which worked well once i change the DH to Zigbee Switch within ST. The switch itself looks high-tech, with several buttons laid out to control the numerous options Caséta offers. Lutron has gone for function over fashion for the most part with this dimmer: The white and gray buttons are front and center, not hidden by touch-sensitive controls, as is the case with other dimmers in this category. With geolocation your smart home will know if you are in or away from your home. This means you can easily trigger events based on your location. As for wired smart switches, these require a basic understanding of home electrics. It’s all relatively simple, as long as you’re aware of which wire is which. Someone with basic DIY skills should be able to sway a regular wall switch for a smart one in just a few minutes. Just had a 3 gang version delivered for my garage and outside lights, and i am struggling with the 3rd switch. I stumbled on changing the DH to Zigbee Multi Switch which then makes the 2nd switch a Child to the Parent and seems to work perfectly for the 2, but had not joy getting ST to see the 3rd switch, but as it happens i don’t need that at the moment - would be nice to have the option thought.
