About this deal

Cathbad, little Kate, Ruth and DI Nelson remain steadfast in their characterisation, making it a sound fourth novel in the series. Elly Griffiths’s Ruth Galloway—a forensic archeologist who is prickly, tough, awkward, and vulnerable—makes for the perfect amateur sleuth, and jaded copper Harry Nelson is the perfect foil. A Room Full of Bones is another engrossing instalment in Elly Griffiths' series featuring archaeologist Ruth Galloway. Moving on from this, we learn of the local nobility's ownership of native bones taken by his ancestor from Australia in the last century.

Thoroughly enjoyed the intricately woven tale involving the Elginists repatriating the bones of Indigenous Australian back to their homes.Griffith's novels occupy a world where modern science and new age mysticism coexist but her characters' flights of fancy are leavened by common sense and humanity' Sunday Times. But she won’t remember it,’ Ruth wailed to her best friend Shona, herself five months pregnant and glowing with impending maternity.

I thought the part of the animal rights activist was negatively portrayed and it didn't ring true that someone who cared about animals so much would be happy to make their money from a horse racing yard also Cathbad being vegetarian but wearing fur didn't seem to make sense. Emotions run high in A Room Full of Bones but the novel is cleverly plotted and delivers a highly satisfying mystery element, perhaps the most well thought out in the series so far. The dialogues and thoughts of the characters are repetitive, the characters are boring and selfish, the relationships between them shallow and the situations most of the time ridiculous!Ruth Galloway is a remarkable, delightful character: brilliant, wry, determined, and independent, almost to a fault—readers are sure to clamor for the next book in the series.

As DI Harry Nelson and his team descend to investigate the death of museum curator Neil Topham, Ruth finds herself in the unenviable position of being the person who found the body (this is starting to become a habit! With Nelson keeping his distance, Ruth finds herself torn between being relieved, yet also missing their connection. I loved working in publishing and eventually became Editorial Director for children’s books at HarperCollins.Ruth is depressed and overweight and she doesn't feel she's a good mother and she loves the depressing saltmarsh where she lives and she likes her job and blah blah.
