About this deal

Air should enter through the stove’s vents and not through any gaps between the door and stove body. Credit is provided by Novuna Personal Finance, a trading style of Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Any gases and smoke produced by your woodburner need to be burnt in the firebox when flammable, then make their way up your flue pipe.

Home | Stoveseal | High Quality Seals for Wood Burning Stoves

Hi, I’m James, I’ve been using traditional open fireplaces and wood burning stoves for many years, and I’ve also recently bought a bioethanol fireplace. As the door is closed tight the seal is designed to flatten and fill the gap between the door and the stove frame. The seals in wood, pellet and multi-fuel stoves are referred to using a number of different names including – Fire rope, glass rope seals, rope seals, fiberglass stove gaskets, thermal rope seal, stove rope. However, in some cases, if a soft seal has been used, the seal may have started life as a 14mm diameter and would have been squeezed into a narrower channel. The template can be printed onto a thick sheet of paper or you can glue / tape the paper onto a piece of stiff card and then cut out the appropriate template for the width of the channel. I had a chimney sweep come and he refused to remove it to sweep the chimney as he said it was not fitted correctly and it was dangerous.

Fire cement and silicone - Direct Flues

Medium compression door seals offer more resistance when squeezed, will only compress by a few millimetres and will not usually compress below half of their original diameter. Sometimes, even this information is not always enough because the stove designer may have chosen a seal with a particular compression. They all serve the same purpose - to ensure that the stove gases and fumes are efficiently extracted through the flue system and not allowed back into the room. We are dedicated to providing expert advice and top-quality products to meet all your stove glass needs.Stove manufacturers recommend door seals are replaced every 12 months, and window seals every 18 – 24 months, to ensure the stove keeps running safely and efficiently. Stove manufacturers choose various methods and materials for cushioning and sealing the high temperature ceramic window glass in the stove door, most commonly used are flat width plain and ladder tapes which are clamped in place with a metal strip. Last year we bought a used wood stove that looks like it was homemade (no manufacturer identifier markings). Gently prise a section of the old seal out of the channel - just enough to be able to measure the width of the channel with a ruler. No wood-burning stove installation is complete with a trusty tube of high temperature silicone sealant.
