Geoboards were invented and popularized in the 1950s by Egyptian mathematician Caleb Gattegno (1911-1988).It consists of a physical board with a certain number of nails half driven in, around which are wrapped geo bands that are made of rubber. Plus, you’ll never run out of rubber bands (or have to worry about students flicking them at each other)! Geoboards are a visual way for children to grasp the basics of maths principles including geometry, symmetry, angles, fractions, and more through fun, hands-on learning activities. Each challenge card features a different shape for children to map on their Geoboards, from basic shapes like squares, triangles and rectangles, to more complex ones like diamonds and stars.
