About this deal

The POGS headphones, overall, is a great headphone for kids. It has a fun design that any kids would love and durability that will resist any twist and bend. When it comes to fitting and comfort, the headphone delivers. It fits most sizes and the adjustable band enables it to adjust along as the child grows. Furthermore, the hypoallergenic cushioning is definitely a plus for any parents.

Headphones for kids often have volume-limiting capabilities to help protect young ears, and in-ear headphones aren’t recommended for younger children because they put the sound closer to the eardrums, increasing the risk of potential damage. For children, especially younger kids, choose a pair of headphones with a sound limit of 85dB, which is considered the maximum safe decibel level for kids.

7. Best headband-style kids' headphones

While parents may initially be reluctant to put headphones on their little ones, if you bring baby to a festival or wedding with lots of noise, a cool-looking pair of ear defenders is crucial. Because children’s and teenagers’ ears are different to adults’, you can’t just sling them a pair of your cans to shut their devices up, we’re afraid. For one, their ears are smaller, but they’re also still developing. If children are exposed to loud sounds, it can cause irreparable damage to their hearing, and maybe even permanent hearing loss. They’ve been widely used in our household by the kids for homeschool sessions, Zoom socialisation, watching videos and films and listening to music. After testing the headphones ourselves, we can conclude that the sound quality is above average. Low tones can be heard but is weak, the mids and highs are clear in a sense of satisfactory experience but nothing miraculous. Sound quality score: 6.5/10

Suitable for ages five to 12, the adjustable headband shifts by 3.2cm on each side, which is more than generous, and the build feels as if it will survive plenty of abuse. As with most Bluetooth pairs, there’s also a microphone for calls (or home schooling if the worst happens again) and while voice clarity wasn’t conference call worthy, we really hope it isn’t a feature we need for a while. This feature also works with POGS link cables. It's the cable that lets you attach one POGS headphone to another. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends 85dB as a safe maximum noise level for children for up to eight hours – that’s around the volume of heavy traffic. Some devices can go to 136dB when on maximum volume. Ouch. With this in mind, one of the safety feature that POGS implemented with their headphones is the maximum volume. What this means is that, the headset limits the loudness level of the sound it produces to acceptable level that will not cause any potential damage to the hearing of the children. Furthermore, even if you set the device volume level to maximum to increase the loudness of sound produces by the headset, the headset will simply adjust its setting to keep the loudness level within the safety range. Pretty cool right?Other than the fitting, the earmuffs are also noise isolating and comes with hypo-allergenic ear cushions to keep outside noise to a minimum. Other than that, there's nothing much else to mention about the headphones fit level and comfort. Controls and functionality of the POGS headphones The POGS headphones are rated to last up to 12 hours of continuous listening. Unfortunately, we are not certain about the battery capacity used for these headphones. Battery score: 8.5/10 Vollständiges Aufladen: zwei Stunden für 12 Stunden Nutzung. Schnelles Aufladen: nur 10 Minuten für 1 Stunde Nutzung.

But kids’ headphones, more often than not, have a volume limiter on them, so developing ears stay safe. In our round-up, we’ve listed the maximum volume on all headphone entries, so you know they’re definitely child-proof. With a range of stylish colours and lots of cool details, like the SharePort, which lets you connect multiple headphones to one device (ideal for siblings), these LilGadget headphones are beautifully designed. Noise isolating and hypo-allergenic ear cushions to keep outside noise to a minimum so you can keep the volume down.

The verdict: Kids’ headphones

Just like the headphones, the cables are built to last. It can happen though that they get lost or get twisted one too many times. Fortunately, all POGS cables are detachable for easy replacement if needed so you can still use your POGS headphones for a long time. Since the POGS headphones is designed for kids, we assume that the designing values the durability and quality of the product overall. This also led us to believe that the sound quality will be average. Furthermore, we also assume that there's won't be any heavy bass or low tones to protect the developing hearing senses of the kids. Sound quality from the 40mm drivers is as good as it needs to be and the battery life is solid, with 16 hours with noise cancelling on and 24 hours with it switched off. The standby charge is rated to 200 hours too, so you shouldn’t have to keep charging them. From the ages of 8-12, media starts to play an increasingly important role in a kid’s life, with research finding that teens can spend up to nine hours a day consuming media, which includes listening to music or watching TV.
