About this deal

Carbomer liquid eye gels (AaCarb, Aacomer, Artelac Nighttime, Clinitas, Evolve, GelTears, Liquivisc, Lumecare, Ocufresh, Ocu-Lube, Viscotears, Xailin) Close your eye for a minute or two, and press gently on the side of your nose where the corner of your eye meets your nose. This helps to stop the drop from draining away and keeps it in your eye. If your child experiences symptoms that you think might be due to the drops, speak to your pharmacist or doctor.

The following adverse reactions or medically relevant adverse events were reported during clinical trials: If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. Schaefer, C., Peters, P. and Miller, R. Elsevier, London. Different lubricant eye drops are available to buy from pharmacies or supermarkets, that act like artificial tears to treat dry eyes. Use one drop into the eye (or eyes) affected by dryness. Many people find it is sufficient to use the drops three or four times a day, but you can use the drops more frequently if your eyes are very dry. If the drops have been prescribed for you then follow the directions given by your doctor.

Mild side effects: Eye drops and ointment can cause mild stinging, blurred sight or a funny taste in the mouth soon after putting them in. Celluvisc is a tear substitute and contains the lubricant called carmellose sodium. It is used for the treatment of the symptoms of dry eye (such as soreness, burning, irritation or dryness). Carmellose sodium has no pharmacological effect. Carmellose sodium has a high viscosity resulting in an increased retention time on the eye.

Neonates, infants born prematurely, those with low birth weight, those with an unstable gastrointestinal function or who have serious illnesses may require special consideration. For any infant, if a drug is prescribed to the nursing mother, it should be at the lowest practical dose and for the shortest time. When drug administration is unavoidable and breastfeeding is to continue, minimisation of exposure of the infant to the drug may sometimes be achieved by timing the maternal doses to just after a feeding episode. Infants exposed to drugs via breast milk should be monitored for unusual signs or symptoms. Interactions between the drug received by the infant from the mother's milk and medication prescribed for the infant should also be considered, for example, when the drug given to the infant may prevent metabolism of the drug received via breast milk. There are no preclinical data considered relevant to clinical safety beyond data included in other sections of the SPC. Carmellose sodium should start to work straight away, but it may take several weeks before you feel the full effects. Occasionally, the drops can cause an allergic reaction with redness, swelling and irritation of the eye or eyelids.CELLUVISC ® may cause temporary blurring of vision. If you do experience temporary blurring, do not drive or use machines until your sight is clear. There is enough liquid in 1 single-dose dropper to put a drop in both eyes if needed. Close your eye. Gently press your finger over the inside corner of your eye (over the eyelid) for about 1 minute. This helps to keep the drop in your eye.
