About this deal

This natural solution doesn’t rely on any chemicals, so it’s both kind to the environment and inexpensive. Thinly slice a lemon and drop the slices into your kettle. Fill the kettle to the top of the area affected by limescale (but not above any maximum fill guide, or below any minimum), then boil it and allow it to cool without pouring out the water or removing the lemons. Once it has cooled, boil it again, allow to cool, then pour away the water and rinse it out. Vinegar is useful, but can't be used on everything. Very comfortable and well equipped cottage in a lovely little village. Great to have a fully enclosed garden with the dog. Good location for the north Norfolk coast and lots of other beautiful places to visit all within an easy drive. Friendly and helpful owners with excellent communication. The garden has a sunny patio area outside the kitchen with a table to eat or have a drink weather permitting Both Kettlestone and Pensthorpe feature in the Domesday Book of 1086. Kettlestone was called ‘Ketlestuna’, an Old English word meaning ‘Ketill’s farmstead’, and was held William of Warenne. Pensthorpe was held by Reynold, son of Ivo, and was referred to as ‘Penesthorpa’. This name may be a mixture of Old English and Old Scandinavian meaning ‘Pening’s or Peningr’s hamlet’. To the east of Pensthorpe deserted medieval village is a Cold War Royal Observer Corps Orlit Post and bunker (NHER 25992). The bunker, an underground monitoring post, was built in December 1958 and closed in October 1968. A modern telephone kiosk, built to a 1935 design by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, stands in the centre of Kettlestone village. CedarTop houses the spacious main living and dining area. The 30-foot high vaulted ceiling of natural cedar and exposed copper is complemented by three tiers of windows to capture the cooling ocean breezes and provide a panoramic view of the stunning turquoise waters for which the Bahamas are world renowned.

If you’d rather not scrub, you can add a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to 500ml of water and boil several times, allowing it to cool between each boiling. Then empty and rinse thoroughly with cold water. Each year the smaller authority prepares an Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR). The AGAR has been published with this notice. It will not be reviewed by the appointed auditor, since the smaller authority has certified itself as exempt from the appointed auditor’s review. Using a filter to reduce the mineral load in your tap water before boiling can help slow down the build-up of limescale in your kettle. So can installing a water softener. But what if it’s too late for that? And the limescale has already coated the element, the walls, and the base? The minerals responsible for any limescale in your kettle were already present in the water when it was running through your plumbing. So, if you drank the water straight from the tap without boiling it first, the same chemicals causing the limescale problem would still be present, they just wouldn’t be so obvious. Traveling through individual covered breezeways on either side of CedarTop take you to the separate private bedroom suites, Cayview and Sunrise. Once all of the limescale is gone, fill your kettle up with clean water, boil it and empty it again. You can also use bottled lemon juice (but not lemon squash!) if you don’t have a lemon handy – add a couple of tablespoons to the kettle in place of the lemon slices, and, again, top up the water to cover the area affected by limescale. Boil and cool the water twice, then rinse the kettle thoroughly to avoid any lingering taste of lemon affecting the next few rounds of drinks. If this doesn’t shift the limescale either increase the ratio of lemon to water, or try an alternative solution. How to remove limescale using vinegarThere are several ways to remove limescale from a kettle and, depending on the level of limescale present and the model of kettle you’re working with, finding which works best may require a little trial and error. How to remove limescale using lemon The lychgate is a 20th-century memorial to James Cory, rector of Kettlestone for 68 years until his death in 1864, who is buried in the churchyard. He began as rector in 1796, and hence was preaching during the French Revolution, Trafalgar and Waterloo, the Crimean War and the Indian Mutiny.

If you’re putting yours under strain by forcing it to work longer and harder, those figures might prove optimistic. How does limescale build up in a kettle?

Naturally, only put your hands inside or on the kettle if it is absolutely cold. We also recommend using a toothbrush to clean around and as far under the element as possible. Repeat this process two to three times to remove any traces of vinegar and prevent your tea from tasting funny. The kitchen is fully equipped with top quality appliances and all the utensils you can possibly need. Outside the private, fully enclosed garden soaks up the summer sunshine and has private off road parking, The cottage is dog friendly and we accept one well behaved larger dog or two small ones. In addition, a separate pool house with bath and outdoor shower complements the custom designed 10 foot deep pool/spa and waterfall all giving way to hand-cut stone terraces and grand staircase leading to private ocean-side patios and stone staircase into a sand bottom lagoon. Only boil as much water as you need – you’ll save money by not running the kettle for longer than is necessary, and will minimise limescale build-up by not exposing the element to large quantities of water-based minerals – and avoid reboiling water whenever possible.
