About this deal

David Litchfield decided to draw a picture and post it online every day for one year. The following video was used to promote an exhibition that shared the pictures. Could you try to complete a drawing every day to improve your own skills? Ask your child to plan their very own royal adventure story. Use any of the plans we’ve done so far- a comic strip or a story map. Nocturnal animals are more active at night than during the day. These animals sleep during the day, often in a burrow or den. They have special adaptations that help them survive in the dark. Over millions of years, these animals have developed traits that help them survive in the darkness. Nocturnal animals may have larger ears to hear better, bigger eyes to see better, and body parts that glow in the night. Which animals fit this category?

Follow the story When I Coloured in the World. What would your child change about the world? (Spot the mispronunciation at the start of the video- but apart from that its a great story) What would your child's ideal world look like? Could you add it to your journal? In the following video, the author / illustrator answers questions from children in a primary school. What questions would you like to ask him? The illustrations are gorgeous, first and foremost. I loved the play with the flashlight, the softness of the nighttime forest, the colors of the spaceship. If for no other reason, read this for the pictures. Saw one review here talking about how the text actually detracted from the story, and I can see that. This could have been a great wordless picture book too - the illustrations carry that much of the story. Play ‘Catch’ with your child using a ball or anything else that can be thrown safely. Instead of counting in 1s each time the ball is caught, ask your child to only count every second, fifth or tenth catch. Scientists group animals into three different groups according to what animals eat. These groups are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. Create a timeline that shows the events from the story. Can you make a timeline of your own life so far? What local / national / international events have taken place during the time that you have been alive?

Draw a picture of your animal and label it. Can you write sentences using adjectives (words that describe)? I have added more activities to Mathletics to support your maths learning this week. Please keep up the brilliant work on there.Today guys we are working on fractions- finding 1/2 or 1/4 of a set of things is an easy way to do this at home.Use anything you have that are the 'same' like pieces of pasta or pens. When Beryl is fully grown her mass should be 10 times the mass she was when she first came to live with them. What should her mass be then? (multiply by 10)

It’s another Bookwagon day in our house. The kids were so excited to get their latest books in the post. Step 2: Squeeze glue over your lines that you have drawn. My class of 7 year olds needed a little bit of help with this so watch out! Remarkable Routines- Can your child create their very own simple routine, just like a gymnast, dancer or synchronised swimmer? Look at the use of light and shadows in the illustrations. How are shadows formed? How do shadows change as the source of light moves? Could you write a letter to a friend or a family member who lives in a different part of the world? Describe where you live and describe school. Think of questions to ask about where they live and about their school. Draw them something to cheer them up!Imagine they are going to be one of the characters from the story and an adult is going to be Judge Jenny. What would they say to Judge Jenny? How could they persuade her? How do we know that Heather and her new friend are having a nice time when they first meet? Can you describe their expressions and body language? Traditional celebration: Talk to an adult and ask about any traditional celebrations you may have as a family. Why do you celebrate them? How do you celebrate them and when? Do you have to wear different clothes and eat different food? Could you record this in a picture or piece of writing
