The king of all gods and father to Kratos. He throws lightning bolts at those who defy him. My second God of War playthrough was my best playthrough, and it had everything to do with the higher framerate I enjoyed with this PC port. Like Days Gone and Horizon: Zero Dawn before it, God of War flies on a good PC. On an RTX 3060 at 1920x1080, I was able to crank up the target fps to 90 and mostly stay there with Nvidia DLSS set to Quality. I noticed things got a little choppier during doorway transitions to the open-world lake area, but the frames would steady after a while. As he explores the Island, Kratos questions Gaia why she offers to help him. Gaia then tells the story of Zeus and how Cronos, Zeus' father, ate all of his children to prevent the prophecy that one of his own children would rise against him and how Rhea, Zeus' mother, saved her child and sent him away to an island that was really Gaia, the Titaness Mother of Earth and Zeus' grandmother, and Gaia nurtured Zeus until he grew to be a man and sought revenge against Cronos and all the Titans. Kratos also encounters a haggard and crazed Icarus, whom he takes his wings from, and the Gorgon Queen Euryale, from whom he gained the Head of Euryale by decapitating. The supreme ruler of the Gods, Zeus reigns over the sky while his brothers Poseidon and Hades rule the seas and underworld, respectively. As lord of the sky and rain, Zeus wields deadly thunderbolts which he can hurl at those who displease him. Plot

We won’t spoil the journey, but Ragnarok leaves the door open for future God of War stories to be told. Though you can play the God of War Ragnorok New Game Plus mode if you've already finished the game.
