Further research is needed to clarify these questions. Clinicians may begin engaging patients who use stimulants before these patients have any motivation to change their pattern of use. Clinicians should use motivational interviewing techniques to assess patients' stage of change, ambivalence to change, and motivators for change as part of the initial assessment for treatment. •

Sexual behavior associated with stimulant use.
