Brother LX17 Sewing Machine – Open zigzag stitches are used to overcast seam edges to prevent fraying or can be used for decorative purposes, such as stitching over ribbon to form a decorative braid – great for children’s clothes. With the closed zigzag settings you achieve a nice satin stitch which can be used to edge items such as table cloths and napkins or simple decorative lines and curves or scallops.

An affordable choice, this model includes 17 built-in stitch programs, making many types of mending and sewing an effortless task. Setting the machine is easy; simply turn the dial mounted on the side to the stitch of your choice.

The LX17 has the convenient top loading bobbin mechanism which not only takes the hassle out of bobbin changing, but is smooth and quiet (even at full speed) and is far more reliable when sewing heavy and more extreme fabrics compared to similarly priced front loading bobbin machines. There are also quilting specific quilting presser feet available for this machine, too! You might be interested in free motion quilting or free embroidery and choose to add a quilting foot or an open toe quilting foot. If you do, you may want to add a grip guide for free motion quilting, too!
