About this deal

I was delighted to get an early copy of Bad Panda. A funny and highly illustrated new series by the duo who also wrote Dave Pigeon. A hilarious story featuring two Pandas immediately grabbed my attention. It is an entertaining and funny story about a Panda called Lin who is fed up of being cute and tries to be really bad. But, her attempts at being bad keep going wrong and the visitors at the zoo end up liking her even more! A characters that wants to be bad, who’s fed up of being called cute and ‘a-fluffy-wuffy-bear’, but who never quite managed to be bad is a great combination that I think children will really relate too. Bad Panda by Swapna Haddow was silly as can be, a mix of graphic novel style at times with more text-heavy sections like an early chapter book, and really a dream for the mischievous among us. Lin is such a darling and perfect panda, she finds herself being sent to the zoo, away from her family. Knowing her adorable perfection got here there, she decides that being a complete rotter of a panda will get her out. The writing is raucous, her antics are fabulously naughty, and she also wins you over with her intentions to get home to her brother. Meet Lin. She’s a bad panda. She lives in the zoo with her friends Fu, also a panda, and Malo, a monkey. After a fun banana-throwing competition, Fu is nowhere to be found and Lin soon realises that he’s missing. At the same time, there are rumours of a terrible child visiting the zoo. And not just any terrible child – Billion McDingle-Waddlington, the most fearful child of all. And keep your eyes peeled on our socials for a chance to win your very own copy PLUS some Cheeky Panda goodies!

Lin has had it. And in book 1, we see her doing everything in her power to prove that she's the baddest, meanest, most un-cute animal in the zoo. Of course, laughter and ridiculousness is to be expected. Bestselling author Alexandra Christo, author of TikTok sensation To Kill a Kingdom, introduces her new book, The Night Hunt (Hot Key Books), a dark... Meet Lin. Everyone thinks Lin is the cutest panda ever. So much so that they ship her off to the local zoo, away from her beloved brother, to be ogled at by the masses. If you enjoyed reading the hilarious adventures of Dave Pigeon, you will be on the floor crying with laughter when reading Bad Panda, the super funny series with two-colour illustrations throughout from the very same creators!Well, we’re happy (a lot happier than Lin, anyway…) to present to you, our lovely customers and readers, an exclusive sneak preview of the brand-new book published by Faber – Bad Panda! These is the perfect, cosy, laugh-out-loud series you'll want to read on breaks or during bedtime. It's perfect for fans of Grimwood, The Worst Class in the World, Rex: Dinosaur in Disguise and The Adventures of Pug! Fed up of having her head confused for her bottom because she just so happens to be SOOOOPER-DOOOOOPER fluffy.

Coffee house Caffè Nero has announced the 16-strong shortlist for the inaugural Nero Book Awards, recognising the outstanding books of the past 12... The Primary School Library Alliance is calling on the government to match-fund the private investment it has brought into helping primary schools c...The trees used are able to naturally regenerate, or are replaced, meaning sustainability is present in their production. The winners of the Diverse Book Awards 2023 have been announced, with one winner from each of the four categories announced: Picture book, Children... There is an amusing meeting with two humans dressed up as Pandas. A monkey who befriends them and then hides in the zoo shop and pretends to be a cuddly monkey and the young King Cobra with a story to tell. The very rich and spoilt Billion loves animals. As long as they’re dead and stuffed. He has a house full of tiger rugs, with stag heads on the wall. And now he might have kidnapped Fu!

This is much harder than she ever imagined. With her new Panda enclosure buddy Fu alongside, Lin is BAD. Growling, scaring, not washing her paws. Even copying one of the scariest animals in the zoo! Lin loves to play with her big brother. Face-Like-A-Bag-of-Potatoes. But one day he does a massive poo in the carpark and is sent to live on the other side of the sanctuary. I love how Sheena Dempsey’s illustrations increase the scale of the poo! This is definitely a story where you need to look at the text AND the pictures. What makes a panda turn bad? Well, Lin has tried being good and doing all the right things and where has it got her? Thousands of miles away from her beloved brother, Face-Like-A-Bag-Of-Potatoes, is where.

Need Help?

They look all over the house and discover lots of different shaped and sized drinking glasses. Some with and some with. This story would definitely encourage children to go off and do their own hide and seek. At home in the panda sanctuary, Lin was the cutesiest, wootsiest, fluffiest, wuffiest baby, while her brother looked like he’d been spun too fast in a washing machine. Like the first in the series, Bad Panda, this book has widely spaced text, font that’s been chosen to support reading, and distinctive red/grey illustrations, all of which will appeal to newly confident readers. It is easy to understand what’s going on, even if you haven’t read the first book – and you’re going to want to read everything by Swapna Haddow and Sheena Dempsey after you’ve read this. It’s a brilliantly funny read. Towards the end when Lin the Panda thinks she has done something that will make the humans so mad she will have to be sent home. Things don’t turn out quite how she’d planned. There are some important messages about how captive animals should be treated and how zoos should be organised. Being cute had her sent to be the cuddly face of a foreign zoo. So maybe being bad will get her sent home?

What do you get from sewing the head of a smart dog onto the body of a tough police officer? A new superhero from the incorrigible creator of Captain Underpants. Dapo Adeola, Tracy Darnton, Joseph Coelho and Chitra Soundar are among the 19 authors and illustrators longlisted for the Inclusive Books for Child...

Lin, Malo and their new small raccoon friend must follow the clues and rescue Fu. And so begins a funny and silly adventure that will have children giggling for ages.
