About this deal

The Bismarck was a WWII German battleship, named in honor of 19th century chancellor Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898). It sunk in the North Atlantic on the 27 th May 1941, and its wreckage wasn’t discovered until June 1989. The ship commenced in 1936, in service in August 1940, full-load displacement of 50,000 tons, the largest battleship in the world at that time.

Ark Royal, King George V, Rodney, and other ships pummeled Bismarck with a staggering level of gunfire in a furious naval battle. A single, rolled-up plan is included, and this simply shows the Bismarck in several elevations, to help you further with your model, despite everything being covered real well in the manuals. The launch of the Bismark took place on February 14, 1939 in Hamburg in the presence of Hitler, Raeder, Keitel, Göring, Goebbels, Hess, Ribbentrop, Himmler, Bormann and von Schirach, to underline the importance that was given to the event.US Baltimore Armed Privateer Schooner Grecian 1812 (prototype) - Vanguard Models - 1:64 'Zulu' fishing boat , Vanguard Models - 1:64 Fifie' fishing boat, Vanguard Models - 1:64 HMS Flirt 1782, Vanguard Models - 1:64. With an impressive 1:350 scale, 659 parts and an overall length of 718mm, this Level 5 kit promises a challenging and rewarding building experience.

A partial “dazzle” scheme was applied with three sets of diagonal black and white lines on horizontal hull and upperworks surfaces. Bismarck was subsequently assaulted by sixteen Fairey Swordfish biplane torpedo bombers, and after several critical hits, the ship was scuttled so as to avoid it being boarded by the British. The commander of the OKM (Oberkommando der Marine), Admiral Raeder, decided to use the Bismarck to protect surface ships from interference from British battleships, as well as, of course, to attack merchant ships supplying Great Britain.

Two days later, heading for occupied France to effect repairs, Bismarck was attacked by 16 Fairey Swordfish biplane torpedo bombers from the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal; one scored a hit that rendered the battleship's steering gear inoperable. But her devastating effect on the Hood and the naval gauntlet required for British retribution have given the Bismarck legendary status among naval historians and ship modelers.

Unlike a sail ship with her tail masts and broad yards, Bismarck doesn’t have the additional height and weight to encumber her. She is famous for the sinking of the battlecruiser Hood and the subsequent hunt she was given which led to her destruction. These are just a paper facsimile of the timber elements in your kit, allowing the modeller to perhaps find things more easily instead of manhandling all your sheets. With this model, you can recreate a piece of history and learn more about this impressive ship and its role in World War II.
