You can use a specialist flexible paint like Polycell’s Crack-Free Ceilings, which is slightly thicker than a lot of paints. If your house is close to a busy road, the rumble of the passing traffic and vibration of the ground can also be the cause of cracks appearing in your home. Add a layer of joint compound over the taped area so that the compound extends past the tape's edges, using the 6-inch knife. Do not be alarmed if you have a few popped nails round the home, in plasterboard ceilings or walls as this can happen with ordinary, minor movement caused by settlement.

If caulk has cracked, the only real solution is to rake the cracked caulk and re-apply in the correct manner.Scoop up a small portion with a 6-inch drywall knife, and smooth a thin layer of joint compound over the crack, making a path that's a little wider than the paper tape.

Point 1 – In the above image, 1 represents a piece of glass roughly 9 x 4 inches with a small hole drilled in each corner. It's not difficult to repair cracks in plaster, but you really need to make sure that you are doing it the right way.To effectively protect large areas, you can use our Easy Cover® Premium films or papers, which are available as a practical 2-in-1 product that includes masking tape. While plaster will need to dry before you can commence with painting or wallpapering, tesa® Crack Cover fleece tape can be painted over immediately 1.

This versatile product is a durable one that is great for using on drywall reinforcement and repair. If this is the case, you need to get a surveyor in to identify the cause and then resolve the issue, before you start filling in the cracks. However, if you have a large crack in a wall that has been plasterboarded, you might be better off filling the holes in plasterboard by replacing the surrounding plasterboard and replastering. It is made for drywall sheetrock and plaster repair and perfectly suited to cover those small cracks that are typical of older walls.

The way plaster cracks can tell you several things: the potential cause and the severity of the issue.Next, using Polyfilla or a similar crack repair filler, spread over the crack using a spatula, ensuring that you apply a little pressure to work it into the crack. tesa® Crack Cover is a highly thin yet flexible fleece tape especially designed for wall and ceiling crack repair. For getting a nice and smooth finish, you need to get a product that does not leave behind any bubble or wrinkle for extended durability.
