Obviously, if not used correctly, any lawnmower can be dangerous but Bosch has done everything they can to make the AdvancedRotak 650 as safe as possible without reducing its effectiveness. LeafCollect Blade
If you have left your lawn to grow for a while, don’t rush in and cut it on a very low setting. Rather start on a higher setting and progressively cut it lower. This will avoid leaving an untidy patchy appearance or even scalping parts of your lawn. At the touch of a button, you can adjust the height through 7 stages from 25 mm to 80 mm. This means that the Bosch Advanced Rotak 650 is versatile and ready for any length of lawn you need it for. The Ergoslide handles and smooth-running wheels make it easy and safe to operate and allow you to work in comfort. The handles can be easily adjusted to the operator’s height to ensure your posture is not compromised. Since the cutting height ranges from 25 mm to 80 mm, this lawnmower is unlikely to struggle with tall grass. I tried it on the highest setting (7) on shorter patches of grass, and setting 5 on taller areas. Both times, it cut at just the right height. Bosch was created in 1886 in Stuttgart, Germany by Robert Bosch who formed the business to specialise in the manufacture of electronic components. The 'Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering' as he originally called it, has since become one of the biggest and best-known manufacturers of both domestic and industrial products in the world. Bosch have always had a willingness to improve on their already established designs, right from day one. It's this ethos, which has allowed Robert Bosch GmbH and Bosch Garden Tools to maintain the enviable place in the market they hold today. Is 7 separate cutting lengths better than the competition? Well yes. Some mowers at this price point only have 3 height adjustments, however, most will have 5 so it really does beat the competition hands down.
Because the grass collection box folds flat there are two fold-able arms near the box opening, when emptying the cuttings these slightly obstructs and restricts the flow of the cuttings when emptying. Also, because the Bosch 650 does such a good job of compacting the cuttings a good shake of the collection box is needed to eject all the cuttings. It is essential that your lawn mower is highly adjustable to accommodate different lawn types as well as to accommodate for the different seasons. The Bosch AdvancedRotak 650 gives you a choice of 7 settings ranging from 25mm to 80mm on the front and rear wheels. Wow! 7 height adjustments! This really is impressive as some mowers I have tested only have 3, so no matter what type of lawn you have or what your seasonal requirements are, this mower will be perfectly adjustable for your needs. The cleverly designed grass box is generously sized at 50 litres, which ensures minimal trips to the compost heap to empty it. You’ll be pleased to note that it folds completely flat for easy storage. The handles also feature an ErgoSlide system. This is basically telescopic handles that don’t need too much force to move, letting you easily adjust the positioning to suit your own height. Even as a larger lawn mower, the AdvancedRotak 650 is comfortable to operate and doesn’t require to much exertion to push around the lawn. Grass Box, Grass Comb, and LeafCollect With the Bosch AdvancedRotak 650 you get an integrated height adjustment feature that is so good and makes adjusting the height a breeze. The handle is located centrally and there is a perfectly placed button that is pressed to either raise or lower the mower. Again see my video above to see just how good this feature is.The other great feature of this mower is the ProSilence that reduces the noise level of this motor by up to 75%. I was sceptical at first but was pleasantly surprised at the low noise level of what is a very powerful motor. As the Bosch Advanced Rotak 650 is armed with 7 cutting heights and a built-in LeafCollect blade, I wanted to see how it fared against a lawn heavily strewn with autumn leaves. My biggest concern was whether it could collect the leaves, shred them up, and still cut the grass underneath in a uniform fashion. Of course, AdvancedRotak 650 is great for people that regularly mow too, providing a lovely finish at any cutting height. It offers decent speed and manoeuvrability for such a large lawn mower, although be mindful of using it in tight spaces as its quite a chunky unit. The 41 cm size is ideal for medium to large lawns as it gives a good combination of speed and efficiency whilst still being easy to manoeuvre.
Their expertise is very apparent in their present range of lawn mowers and garden tools as it includes products, which no other garden machinery manufacturer produces. The Rotak electric and cordless lawn mowers demonstrate the company's willingness to innovate with features like grass combs that enable you to mow right up to the lawn's edge and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that have virtually no weakened performance after extended use. This is why its such a good choice for large lawns, as you can glide across bigger spaces without needing to make as many passes, saving a lot of time and effort. Easy to manoeuvre, the electric-powered Rotak 650 is also extremely quiet thanks to the Prosilence feature which reduces sounds by up to 75%. This is great if you like to enjoy the peace and quiet of your surroundings while you work, or if you live in a built-up area. Even though I referred to the instructions throughout the assembly, everything was simple and self-explanatory. As long as you’re being safe, you shouldn’t need to rely on the manual to put this mower together. The grass box on both the 750 and 650 have a solid top and bottom and a woven material side. This allows the grass collection box to be folded nicely flat to reduce storage space. There are a couple of small negatives with this type of grass collection box:-Having a large grass box is a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it means that all the trimmings are collected and you need to make less trips to empty it out. A smaller grass box or no grass box will make the lawnmower much lighter and easier to navigate. A clever feature of the Bosch AdvancedRotak 36-650 cordless lawn mower is the grass combs. They may seem like an insignificant feature - but to a busy domestic or professional gardener, this will be a godsend as it allows you to cut really close to edges - leaving virtually no grass behind for the grass-trimmer to take care of. The Bosch AdvancedRotak 650 has strong 41 cm hardened and ground steel blade. Whilst these will need to be sharpened occasionally, they will provide a clean, neat cut and they are extremely durable. If you ever need to replace them, parts are easily available and reasonably priced. Equipped with many impressive features, the Bosch Advanced Rotak 650 didn’t disappoint in this area. It has a patented ProSilence sound system (designed to reduce sound output by up to 75%), 7 easily adjustable cutting heights, a leaf collector blade and side combs that enable close edge cutting. Boasting a whopping 1700W electric motor, the AdvancedRotak 650 is one of the larger motors on the Rotak range, making it best suited for medium and large sized gardens.
