About this deal

This Switch grip offers a feature the others on this list don't: extended battery life. Fitted with a built-in 10,000mAh internal battery, Newdery's grip roughly doubles the battery life while playing in handheld mode. It's only compatible with the regular Nintendo Switch, though. Original Article (Fri 23rd Sep, 2022 02:55 BST): Accessory-maker Hori has revealed it's teaming up with The Pokémon Company to release Pokémon-themed Split Pad Fit. HD rumble though, now there's something that I actually use and value. That, and the type of games that I would desire a d-pad for aren't the type of games that I would need a gyro and camera for anyways.

Olmectron Yeah exactly. should be a common addition by now on all switch 3rd party controllers. especially by a company like Hori. Alan Wake 2's minimum specs have disqualified my gaming laptop, and now I question the financial viability of PC gaming Hori have just released Split Pad Pro Attachment Set where you buy the big controllers and a middle bit that makes the Split Pad Pro into a wired controller with a headphone/microphone port. (I haven't seen the middle bit sold separately yet.) Watch out for the Split Pad Fit get sold with this middle bit in the future maybe. Why this D&D actual play series featuring the voices of Geralt and FF16's Clive is going to be the next big thingThrough long gaming sessions, we made use of the more comfortable controls and ergonomics, however, we couldn’t shake the feeling that the controller could have used slightly higher quality materials, as it ends up feeling incredibly light. Should you buy it?

Skull & Co has made a series of great Nintendo Switch grips that offer something most other grips don't: customization. Skull & Co's NeoGrip is a lightweight attachment for Switch and Switch OLED. It comes with three different handle sets that can be swapped on the fly. Since the grip has a power bank inside, it is heavier than the other grips on this list. The bulkiness that it adds works in its favor when it comes to ergonomics, though. The increased depth combined with rounded handles makes the Switch more comfortable to hold for longer play sessions. As the main draw here is extended playtime, that's certainly a good thing. Honestly, I'm not too impressed with them. They are more comfortable in the hand than the Joy Cons, but still not very comfortable. Hands are still positioned with the thumbs too vertical instead of angled, which feels cramped. The ABXY buttons on the Compact have a little bit of a concave design rather than the convex buttons of the Pros, which creates a little sharp edge that irritates my thumb. Kind of like the old NES/SNES controllers I used as a kid. Also, my ring/pointer fingers on the right controller rest on another sharp edge which is irritating. The Pros are big enough that you can rest the whole Switch in the meat of your palms and then keep your fingers loose for playing, where the Compact like the Joy Cons I have to kind of squeeze my fingers to keep the Switch steady. Comparing the controllers playing Hollow Knight (Trial of the Fool), it's just way easier on the Pros compared to the others. Some of that may be muscle memory, but trying to hold Y while hitting B with the base of my thumb was a lot more difficult.Oops, I've turned Baldur's Gate 3 into a soap opera RPG because I can't stop flirting with everyone I've been using the Split Pad Pros for the last year or so happily as the original Joy Cons are way too small and cramped for my hands (I've got pretty averaged sized hands for an adult male, typically a size medium for most gloves). To me the Split Pad Pros are very comfortable, much closer to using something like an Xbox controller. I use the Switch exclusively in handheld mode and was using them with both a standard Switch as well as an OLED version.

In addition to detachable grips that enhance your experience holding the Joy-Con controllers, there are accessories that completely replace the Joy-Cons while also functioning as ergonomic grips. Our favorite option in 2023 is still Hori's Split Pad, but now there are two different models: the Split Pad Pro and Split Pad Compact. If these were proper fully-featured Joy-Con, I would absolutely leap at these, but as they are, it’s a hard pass. Rumble often makes such a tangible difference in games, especially as I have been mostly playing classic DOOM over the last couple of months, so much so that playing it on PC again without the tactility of rumble feels like a downgrade! (though both platforms have their pros and cons) Guide: Pokémon GO Special Evolutions – How To Get Pangoro, Sylveon, Glaceon, Aromatisse, Slurpuff, Sirfetch’d, Galarian Cofagrigus And More The Split Pad Compact is functionally the same as the Split Pad Pro, so if you're happy with the existing Hori grip, there's really no reason to upgrade. The difference between the two is the size of the controller. The name cues you in on this fact already, but the Split Pad Compact is a trimmed- and slimmed-down iteration on the Split Pad Pro. It offers an entirely different form factor. If the Split Pad Pro looks too bulky for you but you're still interested in its features, the newer Split Pad Compact for Hori is an excellent choice.Guide: Pokémon GO Eevee Evolutions Ranked - How To Get Sylveon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Umbreon, Espeon, Vaporeon, Jolteon And Flareon Plus, I overwhelmingly prefer tabletop mode when out and about (and the slightly larger screen of the OLED model makes a big difference), which is another deal-breaker. Also use Turbo Hold to set the button to continually activate Turbo without having to hold the button down.

Other big issue for me is the feel of the buttons. The ABXY buttons are too mushy and imprecise feeling. The Joy Cons are small but feel crisp and precise, and the Pros feel again like an Xbox controller with a crisp response and springy rebound. The Satisfye Nintendo Switch grip has been one of our favorites for some time, and the updated version of it, the ZenGrip Pro 3, is absolutely the one to buy, as this model works for both Switch OLED and the original Switch. As with Satisfye's previous model, the ZenGrip Pro is extremely lightweight--it doesn't make the console feel any heavier (in fact, because it makes holding the Switch so much easier, it almost feels lighter). The bottom of the grip has two hooks for additional console support, and they also allow the Switch to stand securely upright on its own, with enough room for the charging cable to run underneath. The Split Pad Compact is ideal for those who think other Joy-Con replacements are simply too large. This was my primary complaint with the Split Pad Pro. It was a tad too bulky. GENGAR!? ON A CONTROLLER!? SOLD! Also nice to see mimkyu. And is that a case to go along with them? Double sold! Not that Hori is wrong, they need to print their stuff with what will make them more money, but those I said are so repetitive that its gotten boring already. 20 years ago, eevee, pikachu, charmander, etc were already boring clichés. Why would anyone use these over the standard Split Pads? These seem like they’d be less comfortable. Both Split Pad models are definitely worth considering if you're goal is to not only improve the ergonomics of handheld mode, but add more traditional controls.
