About this deal

Within each episode, something is found by one of the three Fimbles (Fimbo, Florrie or baby Pom) who populate the Purple Meadow. The upside is that the Fimbles are appealing to the young audience and hold the attention from at least 18 months to 3 years. Fimbo finds what looks like a bright pink sparkly hedgehog, but when it turns out to be bright pink sparkly wig he and Rockit decide it would be great fun to play a trick on Florrie and Pom - guess who's coming to tea?

The show's real star is left to last: the irrepressible Rockit the frog bounces all over the place causing chaos and hilarity simultaneously. Jingly Hat : Baby Pom finds a hat with a jingly bell but can't keep it quiet during a game of hide and seek. They get the Fimbling Feeling which involves a bit of soft focus, a twitching of the nose, and their hair standing on end. Hoop: Fimbo takes all of his friends on a bus journey around Fimble Valley, using his hoop as a pretend steering wheel. I'd certainly recommend this video to anyone with children - it's aimed at 3+, but Emily loves it, and my nephew is only two, so don't let the age recommendation put you off.It is simple, silly humour that appeals to young viewers and has a warmth for those who watch with them.

The colours help the children identify the Fimbles, they are eyecatching colours which can help very young children to learn to focus and slightly older children to learn colours. She is unfortunately quite annoying as the patronising matronly voice is rarely encouraging and can be quite grating.I have a six-month old daughter who loves the Fimbles - whatever she's playing with when they come on is forgotten, and she sits or lies on her playmat and watches, completely spellbound. Particularly great is the fact that the same songs are sung each episode by the different characters ('When you take a look inside a book' and the 'Let's go and see' song), and I think this gives Emily something to recognise each time. The English spoken and sung is very clear, the songs are catchy and the words are repeated enough times for children to grasp but not too many times to drive adults to distraction. Let's Find the Fimbles (Known as Le monde merveilleux des Fimbles in French, and El maravilloso mundo de los Fimbles in Spanish) is a British/French/Spanish VHS and DVD release that contains three episodes from the first series.

The Fimbles are very appealing to children as they are brightly coloured, speak English clearly (except for Baby Pom), they play games and they sing songs. I myself have developed a great affection for the Fimbles - I like to sing along with the songs, and my little nephew also likes to sing with me. Near the Tinkling Tree, they experience the excitement (Fimbling Feeling) of discovering something new and eagerly share it with their friends.Their surroundings are also very colourful but still bare a resemblance to the things that children may see around them. More often than not, the group is joined by the fluffy Mummy and egg family of Bessie and Ribble, whose wise observations always lead to a safety warning or two. Roly mole and Rocket the frog are lovely characters for children to associate with Roly takes the form of a kind of teacher who tells stories relating to the subject and Rocket takes the form of the less intelligent, who the fimbles have to explain things to. The episodes themselves are pretty good and hold the attention of an 18 month old and even a 3 year old.
