Notice how the man and the woman exist at opposite ends of a shared park bench, with an ambiguous pole used as a framing device to split the pair apart. When readers put pieces of a puzzle together for themselves, they are more likely to agree with the storyteller’s message, regarding it as self-evident. This story appears to be set in England, though I’ve never seen a big English park as deserted as this one.

The well-intentioned ape who starred in Willy the Wimp and Willy the Champ is back, spiffily attired in his sweater vest and polka-dot tie.
