If any song embodies what infuriated people about Wham!, Wake Me Up … is it. It’s neon-hued, incredibly perky and utterly brazen in its desire to be hugely commercially successful: they performed it on Top of the Pops wearing T-shirts that read Number One. I've been a fan of George Michael since day one and this album is his best. I couldn't wait for this album to be released and i'm glad to say that it was well worth the wait. Similarly styled to stress the move away from his teen idol image, the hushed Father Figure details a man in turmoil; by now, Michael was beginning to write more personal lyrics.
