About this deal

Before forming Skrewdriver, Ian was singing in a band called Tumbling Dice who mostly played cover versions of the Stones, Free and The Who. At the time it was common for Pub bands to play cover songs all night. Tumbling Dice soon became popular around the Poulton area. Things were going pretty well for Tumbling Dice, so a rough demo was cut and Ian set about forwarding the tapes to various record companies. He soon found himself pleasantly surprised to receive an invitation to join a record label in London. Unfortunatly, the other band members weren't as keen on the move and in 1976 The Tumbling Dice disbanded. Since South Africa has become our passion, we will reproduce the lyrics of their song “Strikeforce” : Skrewdriver: The First Ten Years – The Way It's Got to Be! by Joe Pearce. Skrewdriver Services, London 1987. The memoir No Retreat confesses how he was constantly targeted. “The event that seemed to give Stuart the real horrors was when he went out early one morning to buy a newpaper and a pint of milk and was hit across the head by a large mancunian wielding a Lucozade bottle.” Skrewdriver gigs were regularly the scenes of violent clashes, with their 1992 planned London concert becoming the “battle of Waterloo”, with hundreds of skinheads and anti-fascists fighting running battles on the streets.

Sunwheel Studios present the annual rememberance podcast dedicated to the musician, politician and the great man of Britain – Ian Stuart Donaldson. We believe this is at least the second time they have used this property – they used it last year too. The owner of the property should be aware that this group's activities are monitored. The ISD gig is held every September by the white power movement Blood and Honour (B&H) to mark the anniversary of the death of the B&H founder and former Skrewdriver frontman Ian Stuart Donaldson, who died in a car accident in 1993. GLORIFYING VIOLENCE

PROFITING FROM HATE

Skrewdriver was instrumental in setting up Blood and Honour, a network of bands promoting militant neo-Nazi ideas through music and concerts. Donaldson was both a musician and ran the Blood and Honour neo-Nazi network. He was the frontman of a band called Skrewdriver, which openly promoted far-right groups and also was also the lead in two other bands called the Klansman and White Diamond. Last year saw hundreds of skinheads gather at a field near Northampton. It is expected that as many as 5,000 neo-Nazi sympathisers could make the trip this weekend for the secret 20th anniversary event in Upper Heyford.

Infamous neo-Nazi skinhead band member dies of 'Covid complications' in Co Antrim hospital". Sunday World . Retrieved 21 January 2022. The organisation was at its peak in the late 80s and early 90s when there was a Nazi-skinhead revival, but its influence has waned in no small part to the quality of its music and its followers and due to a split in the 1990s that left the organisation almost dead in the water and some of its leading figures left the country to avoid the attentions of the Nazi terror group C18 with whom they had a row over finances. Merv Shields died on 1 January 2022 due to COVID-19 complications. [22] Members [ edit ] Line-up [ edit ] Last year, the Bound for Glory gig, due to to be the biggest ever gig to be held in Scotland, was called off with a few days to go after 17,000 people signed a HOPE not hate petition calling for the American band to be refused entry and the Scottish Justice Minister wrote to the Home Secretary to add his voice to the opposition.

‘Anti-Fascist Action’

Diamond in the Dust – The Ian Stuart Biography". Skrewdriver.org. Archived from the original on 27 November 2012 . Retrieved 9 November 2012. The ISD 2023 should be noted as being a gig that Ian Stuart himself would have recognised and would have immediately felt at home in the setting, the music and the crowd. This was a fitting tribute to the memory of Ian Stuart and a symbolic gesture of continuity and defiance towards those who would deny the opportunity to stage such an occasion and celebration of the man, his politics and his music. On the 5th of October, Ian Stuart Donaldson funeral was held at Carleton Crematorium. Among the 20 or so people who attended was Cat, Ian's fiancé Diane, his brother Tony and his life long friend, and original Skrewdriver drummer, Grinny. Bon Jovi's song ‘Blaze Of Glory’ was played and it’s been said that Lemmy of Motörhead sent flowers.
