About this deal

Our Plant Halos are manufactured from recycled, UV stabilised plastic and are guaranteed for 5 years. Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. You can add more potting compost or high quality garden compost into the halo at planting time, leaving enough space to water into it. This encourages roots to grow from the buried part of the stem, which will provide more support and nutrients for the plant. This also works for some other crops in the same family, such as peppers. We grew some plants (we chose ‘Cherokee Purple’) with the products and some without. No special care was given to any plant, and we used the products the way they were intended. We evaluated these items on the only criteria that really matter: How many fruit resulted, and how big were they? Season Extenders Ultimately, the plants that started under the season extenders flowered well before the other plants, and we began harvesting four weeks earlier than we did from the plants that were not grown with the season extenders. This clever designwill allow you to get more professional results from your greenhouse crops such as (but not only) tomatoes. The science behind the design is that you get exactly the right amount of water and feed to the correct parts of the root structure. They work superbly well in growbags. So I’m planting these out in halos today (21st April) which extend the growing and enable easy watering, so if you go away for the weekend you can fill these up with water and not worry about your tomatoes drying out. Suttons strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3. To water/feed you just fill the reservoir/moat and the water/feed will drip direct into the soil from the holes in the spikes. It will slowly water/feed your plant direct at the roots. Our Plant Halos stimulate rapid root growth for healthier plants. They also cut down the need for watering and increase your crop yield. You can sink your Plant Halo(s) into a grow bag or into the ground if you have a traditional vegetable plot. Pots with a diameter of 26cm or above or raised beds can also be used.

Tomato plant halos are devices that are placed around the base of tomato plants to protect them from frost. They work by absorbing heat from the sun during the day and releasing it at night, keeping the ground around the plant warm. This can make the difference between a plant that produces fruit and one that doesn’t. Halos are easy to use and can be found at most garden stores. The one season extender that was different was the Pop-up tomato accelerator. Rather than using water to insulate, it uses plastic. It was much easier to set up, but it has a zippered top that needs to be opened or closed to keep or reduce heat. That requires a smidge of extra effort. It is also much bigger than the others, which, we think, made it harder to keep warm. Its performance lagged a bit behind that of the others, but not enough to make it a deal breaker. Can be used on grow bags, pots (with a diameter of 26cm and above), raised beds and vegetable plots. You install your Plant Halos into your growbag (or onto soil, they are perfect for three per growbag. You then top up the central feeding chamber with compost. This is the area where the tomato plant has its short, knobbly roots which take in the feed and nutrients. You then leave the outer chamber empty and use this for day to day watering. This has a a 3 litre capacity and you can fill with water when watering and it will slowly dissipate into the growbag through the unique watering spikes - ensuring that all the water is taken up by the grow bag. Stuff the pot with a selection of bamboo cane pieces, hollow stems, twigs or corrugated cardboard then perch the hotel on its side in a sheltered position. Or, attach a hook to the pot and hang it from a branch. 4. Make a Twine Dispenser Push it halfway into the soil, then plant your tomato plant. Now when you water your tomatoes the walls of the pot will contain the water and allow it to gradually soak into the soil. This idea is simple yet ingenious. Pop your ball of twine into a pot then feed the end through one of the drainage holes. Stretch duct tape over the top of the pot to stop the spool falling out. You now have a ready-to-use twine dispenser. Just pull from the bottom and cut off what you need. 5. Get Crafty By delivering water directly to plant roots, the Tomato Halo prevents weeds and cutworms while also providing plant roots with nutrients. You can use the tomato support in any way you want with the versatile design. A Tomato Cage can be found around the Halo’s built-in support channels, or a Tomato Ladder can be found in the built-in support channels. There are several ways to plant it, including in a raised bed, a container, or right in the garden. It is necessary to add a large amount of water to the inner pot to help the soil settle and encourage root growth. You can use water-soluble fertilizers such as Plant Health Care on a regular basis. If you use a Tomato Cage, place it around the halo and press the legs into the soil until the bottom rung rests on the ground.
