The 99 Names of Allah are an important element of Islamic philosophy and theology. Each of the 99 Names is thought to hold a special significance, providing insight into the Divine and offering guidance to believers. Say to them (O Prophet!): “Call upon Him as Allah or call upon Him as al-Rahman; call Him by whichever name you will, all His names are beautiful. Neither offer your Prayer in too loud a voice, nor in a voice too low; but follow a middle course.” ( 17:110) The Watcher, The One that nothing is absent from Him. Hence, its meaning is related to the attribute of knowledge. 44 The Responsive, The Hearkener, The One who answers the one in need if he asks Him and rescues the yearned if he calls upon Him. 45 As seen in this verse, Allah is completely dissimilar with all of creation. Although we can’t even imagine Him, considering that all we know and perceive is part of or bear some similarities with creation, He is All-Hearing and All-Seeing of our affairs. He sees the struggle we go through every day and hears the unspoken words of the heart. These two attributes are part of His Divine Names.

The writing flows smoothly and is down to earth, making it relatable and easy to incorporate into every day practice. There are plenty of examples of situations we or the author have encountered and how the different attributes of God have manifested themselves or how they can provide perspective, hope, solace and more. Such are the Beautiful Names that describe to us about Allah s.w.t. The explanation to each these Names can be found in many books and commentaries. Scholars such as Imam Al-Bayhaqi, Imam Al-Ghazali and Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim have all written books that became sources of reference for many. More recent books such as 'Reflecting on the Names of Allah' by Jinan Yousef is also a must-read. To be a reflection of the virtues in the name and attributes of Allah does not mean we have a share in the divinity, as nothing in the creation can be likened to the Creator. Rather, it means that Allah manifests his attributes through us.The Eternal, The Independent, and The Master relied upon in matters and reverted to one’s needs. He is the only one a person should turn to when feeling helpless. 69 Tawhid is the first pillar of Islam and establishes that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى)‎ is the One and only God. He‎ has various unique attributes, and the 99 Names of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) in Islam are a means of representing and glorifying all His divine virtues. As Muslims, we must uphold Tawhid in harmony with Allah’s (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) beautiful names, as is mentioned repeatedly in the Holy Quran: This nasheed is on the famous rhythm of 99 Names of Allah, but the disputed Names have been replaced with the ones mentioned in Sh.Uthaymeen list ( referenced HERE). When it comes to Allah, we know that we should love Him. Muslims are taught this from a young age. God says in the Qur'an, 'those who believe are stronger in love for Allah' [2:165].

Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) says in Surah Al-A’raf: “Allah has the most excellent names. So, call on Him by His names and shun those who distort them. They shall soon be requited for their deeds.” [al-Araf 7:180] Allah is the One and only true God who created this whole world and whatever is in it (including us). The presence of the creation means that there is a Creator. We can’t see Allah, but what we see in nature; including animals, plants and flowers – are all signs of Allah’s power. There has to be SOMEONE in the start who started making everything and everyone. So that is Allah. He sees, hears and knows everything. Allah has control over everything. He never sleeps, eats or gets tired because He is All-Powerful and Self-Sufficient. Allah is not like any of His creation. He has no children, spouse or parents.Zikir or the act of remembrance does not only mean to utter it through the tongue. It also means to ponder and contemplate upon it. This means to reflect on the Names as described in the Quran. The more we read and learn, the clearer the picture is of these virtuous and beautiful Names.
