About this deal

With more apps than any other smart platform, there’s something for everyone on Google TV. Run by Android, explore even more applications on the Google store. If you prefer to watch shows on live providers, then browse through the available options on the integrated digital TV service. Are you a fan of Google Assistant and voice control? Just speak to this 4K TV through the remote, to change channels, get tailored suggestions, and more. The good news continues as we drop down to the 1080p Blu-ray of Looper. The picture is sharp and detailed and the A90J avoids exaggerating the picture noise in the way some sets do. It’s brighter and punchier than we’re accustomed to, but in a way feels unforced. The picture really pops but the frequent dark scenes are also full of nuance.

We also measured the brightness in the 'Vivid' Picture Mode. It reached 777 nits in the Real Scene Highlight and 976 nits in the 10% window. Using Google’s world-class interface, Google TV makes accessing this Sony TV’s smart features a breeze. Customise your home screen with the apps you use the most, enjoy recommendations, curate your movie nights and even add to your watchlist via your smartphone – Google TV makes sense of Smart TV. You can also access the Sony’s picture, sound and other TV settings – keeping all you need under one ‘roof’. Offering 4K HDR TV technology this stunning XR55A90JUis ready for the future, and has unmatched picture quality. Cognitive Processor XR is designed to replicate the way our brains think to optimisethe picture and sound accordingly. With XR Contrast, Colour and Motion theXR55A90JU is truely next level in its ability to produce the best picture possible. The 100 inch XR100X92 (or X92J) uses the same processor but has a different speaker configuration and our results aren't valid for it. There's also an 85 inch model known as the Sony X91J, but it uses a different processor, and our results aren't valid for that model, but you can see the differences between them below. The model numbers arethe same in North America and Europe, but itmay have a dash in it. Size With X-Motion Clarity™ on the XR55A90JU, even the most fast-paced scenes or the action in a football or rugby match will be blur free. Plus, enjoy close to 4K resolution with XR 4K Upscaling. The processor recreates lost texture and detail for real world pictures – whatever the content or source.

We have now started delivering right to your door! Alternatively you can collect free of charge from one of our 7 branches (see steps below) We test TVs using a Klein K-80 colorimeter, a Murideo SIX-G signal generator, and Portrait Displays’ Calman software with methodologies based on Imaging Science Foundation’s calibration techniques. The Sony A90J can nearly take full advantage of the Xbox Series S|X consoles. It only supports Dolby Vision gaming at 60Hz, not at 120Hz, though, and the TV doesn't support 1440p @ 120Hz. After a firmware update to version PKG6.5660.0668NAA, the TV now supports both VRR and ALLM. At the core of the TV is Sony’s new Cognitive Processor XR, which combines the AI abilities of its X1 predecessor with a system that Sony calls cognitive intelligence. While AI analyses picture and sound signals and uses data based on machine learning, cognitive intelligence aims to add a more human perspective to identify and enhance AV performance and deliver an experience in line with how humans see and hear the world. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.)

Taking picture and sound processing to the next level, Sony’s Cognitive Processor XR marries AI to cognitive intelligence for a picture balance that’s best suited to humans rather than just algorithms. The processor analyses every element of the picture to give a sharper image with greater depth and realism. The processor also enhances lower resolution images, giving you smoother, more natural pictures from sources such as terrestrial TV. We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for two months in our Accelerated Longevity Test. However, if movies and TV shows are your priority and you have the budget, we haven’t tested a better television than the Sony A90J. It’s pricey, but it’s also a clear cut above the competition. Think this TV is the right fit for your home, but looking for a different size? It’s also available in the following sizes:

Converted to Test Bench 1.10. With this update we've revamped our Gradient testing, added a new test for Low Quality Content Smoothing, and expanded our Audio Passthrough testing. The Sony A90J is a 4K OLED TV with a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports high dynamic range ( HDR) content in HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision.

dib1 said:Hi, as someone who has a 2020 LG Oled, I would be very wary of a manufacturer promising catch-up apps at a later dateLG/other brands with an in-house smart experience struggle to get app support in a timely manner or be as futureproof because they have to publish the apps internally through their own review/system process then sometimes they drastically change their OS from year to year leading to fragmentation as they move on to selling the next year's model & so on. That's why you have LG missing apps like HBO MAX or the newer Discovery+ app or missing certain features in other popular apps as well such as Hulu where older WebOS 3.0 LG tvs can't watch live tv/add-on services.

HDMI cables

It's in this way I think Sony has a very good advantage for users that want a more futureproof OS as it's Google's platform which will continue to mature/update vs fragmented app support on brands like LG with WebOS or Samsung with Tizen as move from model year to model year. Featuring advanced screen speaker technology, XR turns any sound source into a totally new experience. Hear sound more clearly and accurately, whatever you’re watching. Sound and pictures work together in perfect harmony. We tested the 55 inch Sony X90J (XR55X90J), and it's also available in a 50 inch (XR50X90J), 65 inch (XR65X90J), and 75 inch (XR75X90J) sizes. For the most part, we expect our results to be valid for the other sizes. Costco sells the Sony X90CJ, which we expect to be the same TV.

We’re not overly concerned about the missing UK catch-up apps as they shouldn’t be missing for long, but hardcore, next-gen gamers might want to wait for the VRR update to arrive and the apparent 4K@120Hz wrinkles to be ironed out. The most variation is with the 10% windows, which are significantly brighter than the rest. If that bothers you, you can disable the Peak Luminance setting. With it off, we measured the real scene brightness at 442 cd/m². Scenes are more consistent, with most windows measuring between 468 cd/m² and 479 cd/m², but there's some frame dimming in the 2% windows, with both peak and sustained at around 349 cd/m². We suggest leaving Peak Brightness on if you want the brightest screen possible with an accurate image. The HDR brightness in 'Game' mode is very similar to the HDR brightness outside of ‘Game’ mode. That said, the brightness measured slightly lower than outside of 'Game' mode, especially the real scene brightness. As with SDR, you can set HDR Tone Mapping to 'Brightness Preferred' to get a slightly brighter image, though we expect that this will depend highly on the content. Warming up the TV makes certain Real Scenes brighter, but doesn't change much overall. From dark scenes like the Game of Thrones finale, to bright football matches, this stunning XR55A90JU has amazing contrast to display true to life picture quality. At the heart of theXR55A90JU is the XR Processor, keeping the image optimized and stunning to watch. The only slight flaw in the Sony’s sound is that it can become fuzzy when pushed to very high volumes. However, the set is capable of going loud, and we can’t imagine many owners pushing it to the level where this fuzz creeps in. It could be something to bear in mind if you’re considering using the TV in place of the centre speaker in a surround sound system, but we wouldn’t rush to use the TV in that way anyway as it’s likely to have very different sonic characteristics to the rest of your speakers Mirror your phone screen onto the hugeXR55A90JU using your android or even Apple phone with the inclusion of Air Play. The actuators serve a much more immersive purpose than simply providing crisp sound. The sounds they generate seem to come directly from the screen, rather than simply the general area of the TV. The result is audio that better matches exactly what you’re watching, and a capable center channel that can be integrated into a surround sound system.
