Galvatron was one of three non-transforming Super High-Breed Model vinyl figurines created in 1987 by Japanese collectables company MC Axis. I own all 3 versions and as a fan of the classic movie colours, I was surprised to find I prefer the selects variant. Part of Hasbro's Platinum Edition offerings for 2016 intended to commemorate the 30th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie, this Galvatron is another redeco of the 2008 Universe Deluxe Class figure, meant to be in " movie-accurate" colors but attempting so in a manner slightly different from previous versions. Megatron somehow became Galvatron and set up a false distress signal that lured in the Air Defense Mini-Con Team.Despite Prime's warnings that the area was highly unstable and a battle could create untold geological mayhem, Megatron pressed on and brought Optimus to the verge of defeat before he was interrupted by Riptide. The two bonded instantly, and Leader-1 attached itself to Megatron's shoulder, transforming into a machine gun. Following the Autobots to their new haven on Earth, Megatron approached Vector Prime in the middle of a forest fire and mesmerized him to get him to hand over his map to the powerful Cyber Planet Keys. He and his soldiers came seemingly out of nowhere, sweeping through Mini-Con villages and performing horrible experiments on the diminutive Transformers.

Fortunately, a cry from the Autobots' new human ally Coby Hansen snapped the ancient Transformer of his trance before that could happen.

Normally, it looks like a Kreon posed in a way that very vaguely resembles a cannon, but if you squint you can- Oh, forget it! Galvatron, like the other new characters created for The Transformers: The Movie, was designed for animation first, and his toy was based on these early designs.
If anyone is still unsure about getting this mold, I would recommend the selects version if you are just looking to display or pose in robot mode but not for alt-mode, I know people have had paint chips on the pylons so maybe get the regular release if you are looking for playability. While no figure of Galvatron was released by Hasbro as part of their 1987 Decoy promotion, the Decepticon leader did have a soft rubber figure crafted in his image that was available exclusive in Japan, as part of a second wave of the figures released there by Kabaya, along with other Transformers 2010 characters. During one battle, he was very disappointed with Starscream's ability to lose despite his Mini-Con augmentation, and threatened to take Swindle for himself. That version of Galvatron can be distinguished by the Decepticon insignia on its chest, and also by its cardboard box packaging instead of clear plastic.
